A nice redesign and fixes problems from the chunky model (Sony Playstation 2 Slim)
Member Name: dosftw
Advantages: same compatability with games and software as the chunky Disadvantages: more fragile
As I mentioned in my review of the original PS2 'chunky' I upgraded to this version of the PS2 after my original model conked out on me and sadly had to be sent to console heaven (and I am certain it went to heaven since it was a loyal partner and game me hundreds of hours of gaming pleasure). But this review in on the Slim line, just look at it, it is TINY compared to the original and they is not a bad thing because lets face it, the chunky did take up a rather large portion of anyones cabinet, desk or whatever you use to store you gaming console on. My only dissapointment with the Slim line was the disapearence of the ejecting disc tray which I was very fond of, and is replaced (literally re-placed) with the flip lid like on the original PS and the PSX but it did save space and I have to say that I am quite fond of the new design. Another point to note it that the only way to turn off this console fully is to turn it off at the wall or unplug it completely as it will only go into standby mode, why sony chose to do this is beyond me but it has helped me avoid certain death in my room at night when its pitch black and need to navigate my way to my bed (it would make too much noise turning on my bedroom light) I have used it almost as my north star haha :) Summary: Definitely a good choice for those pushed for space |
