Advantages: Childhood memories, thousands of games, dirt cheap, from the days when gameplay meant most

Disadvantages: Graphics weak now by comparison. Erm, that's it!

The PS2, wow, that thing really ruined my childhood (in a glorious way!). The games for it were amazing. Destruction Derby captivated many an evening for my early years. And, in fact, if you cannot afford the 360 or PS3, you could do far worse than spend out £50 on a PS2. The back catalogue for it is absolutely massive, and dirt cheap. If you go into Game they sell second hand games from literally 99p these days, great fun. It can be used as DVD player too, and the controller is as good as anything the new gen controllers can come up with.

The graphics aren't horrible either. In fact, at the time they were stunning, so if you havent spent much time with high definition games then the graphics will seem fine.

In particular, this console will be great for pre-teen children who are yet to see the new gen consoles. It is absolutely perfect.

And anyone who sells their PS2 is a wally. :) If it has Goldeneye from the N64 it would be the perfect console...

Summary: Every one should have one. Or maybe two.

The new consoles may have fun titles but old school gaming, especially on PS2 still has some heavyweights that companies have yet to surpass. I find older games to be much more enjoyable these days than new ones. Higher replay value on PS2 games.
