The PlayStation 2 is an amazing console that set the standard for those then and now. I first got mine about six or seven years ago to replace my PlayStation 1 which was getting pretty dated. When I first played it with my brother I was amazed at the graphics quality more than anything else. It was miles better than any console I had ever owned. Over the next few years I still felt the same about it, with more and more great new games with better and better graphics coming out all the time the PlayStation 2 was a legend in my household, and I'm sure in many others also.

There were a lot of changes in the PlayStation 2 from the PlayStation 1. It could stand upright, the sliding out disk drawer unlike the PS1's drawer that springs up from the console, the PS2 has two USB sockets on the front for various uses and although a lot bigger than the PS1 the PS2 can fit into smaller spaces (due to the fact it can stand upright) and looks way nicer than the stubby PS1. (I'm not downing the PS1 in anyway, it's a classic).

I still have my PS2 (although I hardly play now) and it still works as well as it ever has. Not only has Sony made an excellent console in the PS2 but one that is as reliable as hell.

Although now eclipsed by the brilliance of its younger brother, the PlayStation 3, it will go down in the history books as a stepping stone in gaming technology.
