Advantages: PRICE, TOP GAMES, 'FREE' DVD PLAYER
Disadvantages: DVD PLAYER SOUND NOT GREAT, ERMMMMMM..., ERMMMMM....
I bought my PS2 about a year ago. Within a week, my best friend had bought herself one. Within a fortnight 90% of the people I know, owned a PS2. I'm not a bully and I don't work for Sony, I just love, yes LOVE, the PS2!
I speak as I find and I find this beautiful, nay, SEXY, piece of machinery/wonder to be a) the best games platform ever and b) a damn good DVD player to boot.
Games - do I need to reel off game titles such as Medal of Honour or Metal Gear Solid 2? If so - don't let me forget the awesome Grand Theft Auto 3 - THE best game ever, ever! Fantastic graphics and sound are just a couple of reasons to buy a PS2. The sheer range of games available now is another - what a choice! (plus, don't forget the platinum range of games at around £20, for top class games - you can't really go wrong).
Movies - the future of home cinema - DVD's. For the PS2's next trick.......why not play a top movie, on a top format and experience an audio visual extravaganza!!(I really don't work for Sony!!). In actual fact - visually, the DVD side of the Playstation is excellent, but, on the downside - the ONLY downside, the sound isn't great. The sound is annoyingly muffled, by the fan on the PS2.
However, lets face it - the PS2 isn't solely a DVD player and the quality of DVD player that you get as an 'added extra' is good and It hasn't caused me that much of a problem - Iv'e never felt the need to go out and buy a DVD player - the PS2 has performed well.
The PS2 is, in my opinion, an essential 'piece of kit' for any kid or any big kid (or, as a games machine for the kid and a DVD player for the big kid?!). The prices have dropped and there are bargains galore to be found second hand - consoles and games.
NOW IS THE TIME TO BUY - PS2 - GAME ON!!!!!!

- 26/06/02 Hmm not sure DVD quality 5.1 sound is bad myself. There are some really great games out now and this is already a success.
Depends what your looking for GC will eventually pull through but at the moment none of it's games are great.
Winning 11 6 is the best game at the moment though. |

- 26/06/02 Meshek I agree with you on the price, but I think GTA 3 plays better on the console. The dual shock suits the game perfectly etc...
The ps2 is a good alittle console, but I have not yet been impressed by it.
Sure there have been a few very good games brought out, but many of the hundreds of others are crap.
Many games on the ps2 are lacking originality and only a few games make use of the ps2's graphical ability (GTA3 etc...)
Technica lly (based on specifications) the X-box is very suprior, but specs don't make a good console great games do.
The GameCube is looking like it is going to be something special. The games are original and boast great graphics too. You just don't get great original games like Super Monkey Ball on the ps2.
PS2 has loads of sports games and plenty of game sequels MGS2 and coming soon MGS2: substance.
There are too many sequals, what about creating original games for once.
Most of the new ps2 games due to be released next year are either sequels or clones of other successful games.
PLaystati on 2 is by no means the best console available and anyone considering the ps2 should also consider the GameCube (Very cool and original) or even the X-box. |
