Advantages: sony has a good reputation, dual purpose- dvd and gaming
Disadvantages: just one colour
Is the Playstation 2 really worth it?
There are many opinions out there regarding this latest attempt to corner the market by the all-powerful Sony. Some fanatically bang on about the console as if it’s the next messiah and the cure to all ills. Where as others dismissed it as a failure before it even left the shelves.
By the looks of it Sony is going to have the same sort of huge success that they have already achieved with their Playstation 1, including the revamped model Psone (same thing different box). They have a great track record being the current market leaders with the biggest user base for Europe, America and the far eastern territories, this might lead you to believe that the Playstation 2 will follow in its tracks. Will it? Well it is looking like its going further..
The PS 2 has got some great features, DVD film playback, ability to connect a multitude of peripherals via its U.S.B. ports, Digital sound output and in the near future broadband connection to the Internet.
But does this make it good? Well buy one then you can decide.
DVD playback is good and why spend more, especially if your a kid this is a great bonus. Plus an action replay gives you multi region if you desire.
Broadband Internet connection in the U.K. is becoming popular in many regions of the country and priced quite highly compared to your average Internet connection charges (but it is a lot quicker).
Now should you really pay under £200 for a console, of course you should!

Yo ur opinion is out of date. It's clearly been written quite a while ago.
The console no longer costs £300
It hasn't cost that much since early 2001.
You can now get it for less than £200.
There has recently been a price drop in the US and I would expect that the PS2 is going to be reduced again pretty soon..
Probably around £130 (just like the GC)
