Playstation 2 -why buy one (Sony Playstation 2)

Advantages: vast library of games, good value (dvd playback), looks cool

Disadvantages: slow loading times, graphically not the best, everyone wants one!

OK, so I already have a Gamecube, PS1 and a Dreamcast, why o why buy yet another game console.
The simple answer is for the games; if i wanted a more powerful console then i'd buy an Xbox, but god is it a big ugly brute and the games are expensive.
So I've taken the plunge, what are my conclusions. Well for starters the console is smaller than i'd expected, it appears to be well put together, I guess a sony trait. It comes with one controller and a composite lead and scart 'type' connector. This is not a full blown RGB
suggest you shell out for a decent gold plated type - the graphics are better.

Graphically the GC is far better and loads sooo much quicker, I guess I've been spoilt there, there is more 'blockiness' but nothing too distracting.
But as I said earlier, it's the games that makes a difference and this is where the Ps2 shines for me. I love rally type games and the Ps2 has many. Unfortunately the poor old GC is extremely limited in the genre, and i'm sick of having to wait 5 months + before a port comes along. (Nintendo take note!)

I never thought I'd get a Ps2, but times they are a changing, I haven't even mentioned that it plays DVD's rather well too.

There are currently some excellent deals to be had with free games and stuff, I got mine at a great price and so far don't regret the purchase, even with 3 other consoles (2 to sell!).
