Advantages: Packed with technology, the good games are flowing
Disadvantages: Its quite pricey.
Sonys Playstation 3 is their third generation of home consoles and is set to revolutionise gaming again.
The look of the console is very professional, it is finished in a glossy black and has some chrome trim like the Sony PSP console, which gives it a high end look and looks great in anybodys entertainment centre. It has cool touch sensitive buttons to power the unit up and to eject the disks. It is quite an elegant machine to look at.
The system is very highly specced with a state of the art Cell processor and nVidia RSX graphics chip and Blu Ray drive inside it, what this means for you
is that your games will look better than they ever have before.
The included Blu Ray player is a very nice bonus as you will be able to play Blu Ray movies which are gradually going to faze out your standard DVDs, the console will play your DVDs too though and upscale them to high definition resolutions.
Inside the box you will get your Playstation 3 console which comes with the 40GB hard drive already inserted, a Sony Sixaxis controller, power leads and a standard composite AV cable. To get the best picture you will need to get either a component or HDMI cable which are both supported by the Playstation 3.
The games for the Playstation 3 are not as numerous as some consoles but the library is finally getting good, with games like Infamous a super powered free roaming adventure, Killzone 2 a graphically amazing first person shooter, Valkyria Chronicles a great tactical RPG, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue a sneak peak at the next GT game and many more out now it's worth owning.
The consoles price is nearly double that of the rival system Xbox 360 but it does have an included Blu Ray player which is quite expensive to buy separately.
Summary: A good console.
