Advantages: Graphics, game development, Blu-ray, ease of use, powerful
Disadvantages: like all the best gadgets, they're not cheap
Well now is definitely the time to beg and steal your way to getting one of these ultimate toys.
Having previously owned a 40GB version, I somewhat foolishly decided to sell it to a friend to finance the wife/girlfriend/infant friendly Wii. Yes I was like the other deranged morons out there swinging away feverishly in my living room trying to get a hedgehog to hit a tennis ball. But as a testimony to my sanity, I soon realised my mistake. Backtracking was not an option, the Wii would remain in place just in case my girlfriend ever got drunk enough to want to play it again...
So on to the big black box... well it's for those of you who seek graphics, gameplay and longevity from your games; for those of you who would rather sneak around as Snake in Metal Gear Solid than give yourself a coronary trying to outrun a hedgehog over 100 yards. It's for the gamers.
However it's certainly not hard to use or get used to; the setup is effortless, the controls are beautiful, as is internet setup.
In fact the only thing stopping you getting one in the past, apart from the price, was the dearth of quality games but there are so many now, you just won't have time to play them all.
Metal Gear Solid 4 alone is worth all the Wii games in the world, get that to start with and then sit back and smile to yourself as you realise that with Blu-ray and new games on their way, it's only going to get better
Summary: With great games now on the shelves and on their way, the PS3 is a safe choice
