Advantages: great games, blu ray player
Disadvantages: a bit pricey
The playstation 3 is slowly becoming the greatest games console of all time. It boasts HD graphics, superb games, wireless control pad, a free network, ability to upload pics, movies and music, the ability to download games and music from off the net, the ability to speak to friends, meet new friends and chat to them when you like. Sony have created a monster!
The ps3 not only looks great in any home, it can also be made the main hub of the home. Sony decided to add the blueray ability to the playstation 3, and its proved to be great decision. Blueray films look great on the ps3 and this addition will no doubt have boosted sales of the console as many consumers look for that extra addtion when making a console purchase. This will have swayed many im sure of it.
The controllers use bluetooth technology so you can play with them basically anywhere in the house, they charge up using a usb cable which connects to the front of the console, and once fully charged you will get a seriously long time of play with them before they require charging again.
HD cable is a must aswell for me, the graphics to a HD tv with this cable improve dramatically and most games look incredible with the change in graphics, games such as call of duty 6 just look breathtaking in HD and once you have played the ps3 in HD you will not turn back.
You can browse the net on the ps3, as it has an inbuilt browser, this is pretty quick when on a wifi connection and is easy to use with the ps3 controller. There is also the option to upload music and pictures to the big harddrive, this can be done by either saving them off the net or uploading them through a usb memory stick. There are 3 usb ports on the console, and the speed when uploading is very fast aswell.
The PSN or playstation network is a great way to connect to friends and play games online. You can add your friends, then compare stats, send them messages, send voice messages, have a voice chat or see what game they are playing currently when they are online.
There are plenty of games for you to choose from out there for the ps3, there is also an online store, here you can purchase games, try demos, download themes, download video content and see the latest downloadable content for your favourite games.
There have been nearly 25 million playstation 3's sold worldwide, that should speak volumes as to how popular and great the console actually is. If you have a playstation portble, you can also connect this up to it and play ps3 games through it, and in f1 championship you can use the psp as a rear view mirror.
Overall this is a great console and will be in households for many many years to come, perhaps the price is a bit high but once bought it will last for a long time. A great source of entertainment and hours of fun.
