Advantages: Easy To Use, Lots Of Features, Wireless Controllers, Can Play Online With Friends, Has Wi-Fi
Disadvantages: A Bit Ugly And Heavy
I got my PlayStation 3 sometime around 2008. I cannot recall what I paid for it but you can buy a preowned one for around £120 now. I have to say this is the best gaming device I've ever had.
There are so many things you can do with a PS3. You can connect to the Internet via Wi-Fi, connect your computer or laptop up with it and transfer music and pictures onto it, and play against friends on PlayStation Network. The easiest way to transfer music and photos onto your PS3 is to turn on home sharing on your PC which your PlayStation will be able to pick up. I haven't transferred music or pictures before but my laptop is connected to my PS3 this way.
PlayStation Network is a way of playing with your friends over Wi-Fi. This means that you do not have to be anywhere near your friends to do this. It is very easy to set up a PSN account. You go over to the PSN tab in the menu and there is an icon there saying 'Sign Up.' You click that and then follow a few steps and before you know it, you'll have your own PSN account. You can then add your friends by sending them a request and then you can play games with each other. Most PlayStation games support this feature, but some are single player only.
When you turn on your PlayStation, you can log on to your profile. You can set up different profiles so that if you share your PlayStation with someone else, they can have their own PSN account and memory data. The PlayStation menu is very easy to navigate round. There are tabs at the top with small icons to make it easy to slide between settings, memory info, PSN, games, profiles, and media. It is very simple and you will get the hang of it straight away.
I feel that the downside to this PlayStation is its looks. It is very big and chunky and surprisingly heavy. It gets scratched very easily and it isn't very portable. It has two USB ports in which you can plug in your wireless controllers to charge them up. It has a socket at the back to plug it in to the mains, an HDMI port, and an AV socket. It also has a port to plug in the Internet cable if you have a wired connection.
The PlayStation uses wireless controllers which have a very long battery life. It can be connected to Wi-Fi and you can play online with your friends for free. There are hundreds of games you can get for it, but in my opinion, most of them are aimed towards boys. It is very fun and I play on it very often. Like I previously said, it is the best gaming console I have ever had. I would definitely recommend it to any avid gamer who likes to play with their friends without having to play on a split screen!
Summary: A Very Fun Gaming Console Which Is Very Simple
