Advantages: Brilliant Graphics

Disadvantages: Expensive Games

After a good few months of debating, I brought myself a PS3 about 2 months ago with my Christmas bonus. I was a bit apprehensive about buying one as it is quite a lot of money to blow in one go, but as I had money to spare, and found one at £170 just before xmas I thought, why not.

On getting it home, I immediately dived in to setting it up. It's very straightforward to install, and as it's the new slim version, you can easily slot it into any free space, either standing upright or lying flat.

Turning the console on, I can immediately see the amazing HD graphics (I am used to playing the Wii which does not support HD) on the home screen, which itself is pretty straightforward to navigate. The setting up takes some time, putting in all your details etc for online play but this only needs to be done once. When putting a game in for the first time, it can take along while for it to upload, as each one may need a different system update to be able to play the game. For example, GT5 took nearly an hour to install before I could play, but this only needs to be done once. As I said before though the graphics are amazing so it is worth the wait. I found that taking one evening to insert each game into the console and doing the installations required would save me time when I come to play the game.

The co-op online play is good, although I haven't used it much (I am trying to get better at the games before I go and ruin someone else's!) and it is free unlike the Xbox.

The controllers keep there charge for a good amount of time, and don't take long to re-charge.
There is a wide selection of games available, but they can be quite expensive when they first get released, some nearly £50. But once they have been out for a while, they do get reduced quite heavily, and you can find some good bargains around.

The Blu-ray player is brilliant, being lucky enough to have a Sony TV, it is a match made in heaven. The picture quality is amazing; it's like being in the movie yourself!

All in all it is a good buy. If you are thinking of investing in a Blu-ray player, you may as well by the PS3 as it just as much to pay out for a decent one, and you get a lot more for your money.

Summary: Worth the money for the amazing graphics, and the wide selection of games
