Advantages: Blue Ray and media centre, nice gaming exclusives

The PS3 is great, but how you look at it determines it.

Firstly as a games console, the graphics are nearly identical to the Xbox360, and has far less games in it's catalog. Yet with 2008 the PS3 has been growing with great momentum and has started to brew some real winning exclusive games. Notably Metal Gear Solid 4. With new firmware updates, the PS3 now has a new Trophy support, similar to the Xbox360's achievements.

It also features a nice and ever expanding PlaystationNetwork and Store, where you can play online for free, download game demos, themes, watch new videos, download more content for your games and download full games at a price.

The next view on the PS3 is that of a media centre. At the moment, it's the best and most likely cheapest Blue Ray player on the market, with internet you can download updates enabling newer HD audio updates and new content if the movie allows. So it is future proof.

It also features audio playback, which displays a visualization picture, a CD import feature and playlists. Then theres also the photo sideshow viewer allowing you to view your photos in HD. Yet with the Hard drive you will more than likely upgrade as you will run out of space and today it's not expensive to buy an 320gb HDD. To top it off, with the Wi-Fi you can even browse the Internet, just plug in your mouse and keyboard and you are set.

Personally, these two views put together is great value for money, and that ultimately swayed me to buy the PS3. As a game console it can be expensive as the Xbox360 is basically the same in terms of gaming quality, has more games and is cheaper. Yet upcoming titles make this a worthy choice and the inclusion of Blue Ray make this a steal.

This system has been amazing so far and has not given any issues or regrets so far!
