Welcome to the future of gaming PS3 is the console of kings!.
lets start of by talking a little about the sleek black design, and curvaceous contours that make this in my opinion the best looking playstation to date.

A little on the bulky and heavy side however but hey once you've got it setup where your putting it (which is most likely under or beside you hdtv) it's not like your going to be carting this machine around anyway so why moan.

I'm not going to blah on about technical details and such as those because you can get that from the link above, what i am going to say to you however is that if you want to see this machine perform in all it's glory then invest in a 1080p television and a HDMI cable to link them, you'll thank me for the tip when you see it for yourself i'm sure!.

It's got a blu-ray disk drive which should be a definate convincer to anyone that is unsure about forking out for one, most blu-ray dvd players will set you back the price of a ps3 just to play the disks.

The wireless controllers are sensitive and they react quickly to your button presses, i've never had any trouble with lag, and they have an AWE INSPIRING RANGE. (mines worked from half way along my street... ok so i'm a geek but i wanted to see)

The graphics i shouldn't need to even comment on because they are in glorious TRUE HD.. 1080p (you don't get better), they are so good infact, that they still look awesome on a standard telly.

Setting it up to get started is just as easy as any other playstation, straight out of the box couple of wires and we're off.

The USB ports allow you to use among other things keyboards, flash drives and webcams.

You can customise your menus and even load in your own pics just to view or use as a wallpaper whether it be by snapping them using a webcam, loading them from a storage device via USB or using one of the card reader slots that sit nicely under a flap on the left hand side of this 60gig model.

You should take note that although this has a hefty price tag, all in all your not paying out for your run of the mill regular console, it's more of a home entertainment system with the ability to play music of all formats and a lot of common video files too (mpeg, xvid etc), this is of course if you update the system software by hooking up online.

Speaking of online did i mention the fact that this machine has an internet browser also, which is unlike any of it's competitors!.
(surprising really when you consider the manufacturer of it's main one)
And also unlike the competition, you can sign up to and connect to the playstation network for free which means to play online games it's not going to cost you any extra for host / server costs.

You can also access the official playstation network to read news and reviews before popping by the official store to download movie trailers, preview video's, playable demo's, themes and extra content for your games which though limited at the moment, there are plenty of killer titles in there to keep you occupied justnow and there are loads more highly anticipated releases coming over the rest of the year that you'll be dying to get your hands on, couple that with the fact that PS3 just got platinum titles, meaning you can pick up a not bad little game collection to tide you over justnow at a pretty reasonable price!.

Sony is also promising HOME which is a highly anticipated virtual world where you can customise your own avatar / character and meet up with friends / family online in a 3D virtual enviroment where with the use of a bluetooth headset you can chat live.

HOME will also allow you to play games, view each others trophies and generally network with a whole heap of other users in the world which is sony's take on the popular SECOND LIFE.

I believe however that HOME will overshadow second life as HOME will eventually have more features and sony have promised it will be completely FREE TO ACCESS!.

Games run fluidly on this console and i think in the 8 months i've had one i've only ever had one game crash whilst i was playing, the reason for this is that i had a faulty ps3, but after a quick call to sony to cash in on my manufacturers warranty, they sent me out a shiny new one less than a week later and kindly picked up the broken model to save me on postage. The call was hassle free, the customer service agent was polite and great at their job and to top it all off, they also gave me a free copy of the awesome *WARHAWK for my trouble.

All in all i cannot fault sony for this effort, i have heard a few folk complaining about release dates getting knocked back etc for some of the games, but then they would complain if the game got released sub standard.

I think i've said it all already and i'm going to leave this here, if you have not got a PS3 yet then you should consider buying one, it knocks everything else thats available right now right of the top slot, give sony and the developers a year and this thing will be perfection as programmers learn to utilise the blu-ray technology and updated coding, games are going to become more and more mindblowing!.

Over the next year the PS3 will blossom and leave the others in it's mighty wake!.

This is one playstation fan that is more than happy with his purchase!.
