I personally don't own a Playstation 3 however many of my friends do and I have also borrowed them for periods of time allowing to get extensive hours of use on them enough to formulate my own opinion. At first i was a bit skeptical about the Playstation 3, to me I believed it was just going to be a Playstation 2 with a wireless controller and slightly, very slightly, better graphics. After my first stint on a Playstation 3 with HDMI lead and a 1080p HD television I could tell the vast difference between the two, the Playstation 3 could produce game play that was almost life like in comparison to it's predecessor.

When first powering on the Playstation 3 the UI ( User Interface ) is very similar to that of the PSP - Playstation Portable, displaying the different options of web browser, game, settings, friends or Home. I would be stating the obvious if i listed what all of them do to you however I will mention that by clicking the home button it allows you to select which user account you want, which is useful for a family/shared console. What this does is allows people to log in to there individual gaming account so each person has to complete there own game without something damaging/improving it without the other wanting them to do so.

The game play of the playstation 3 is out of this world, i really do think the Xbox will have to up it's game to bring a console out that can even be considered in the playstation 3's league. Games boast very high quality, realistic quality where previously it hadn't been anything special. The integration of online game play has been a massive gain for Playstation as i think this improves game play so much i think that the online experience is better on the Playstation in comparison to the Xbox, Playstation network's online game play is also free forever where the Xbox's "LIVE" online system is subject to a £40 yearly fee to access it, which i think means the Playstation works out much cheaper as although the Playstation is more to purchase the Xbox is costing you year after year.


Although the Playstation is utilized for HD television sets you can use it on any old SD television, however you do have to change the settings if you need to move it between HD and SD televisions.


In conclusion i believe that this console is a better and cheaper choice in comparison to the Xbox 360 and also offers a better game play and online experience.
