Advantages: Small powerful console with some decent graphics

Disadvantages: Weak game collection, screen glare.

Sony PSP is a hand-held console released by Sony way back in september 2005 for europe and december 2004 for japan.

Since then there has been a "reshaping" of the handheld. As sony like to do, they have decreased its size and width and have made it lighter. Hence its name "slim and lite". This new PSP, released in late 2007, very much increased sales and made the console more a success. It has added features and capabilities ie a skype service only available on the slim and lite. Also it has double the RAM, up from 32mb to 64mb to decrease loading times.

The PSP is a very much decent hand-held console in many ways. First of all, graphics of many games are pretty amazing for such a small device, most games run very smoothly, the psp features an inbuilt mp3 player, the ability to watch videos and store pictures. It however, cannot take photos without the purchase of additional equipment. There are a variety of settings to allow you to customise the interface the way you like, ie background or colour etc. The psp can also be used in conjunction with your PS3 to browse files on your ps3 etc.

PSP features an internet browser and the ability to connect to the internet wirelessly via WLAN. PSPs can also connect wirelessly to each other so that you and a friend can game together, however in most cases 2 copies of the game are required.

Overall the PSP system is going strong even today, coming up to 5 years after its initial release date. The only disadvantages I would have to say is that the game catalogue for the PSP is relatively weak, with few releases each month. Also, it's very difficult to play in the sun with alot of screen glare making some games almost impossible. Best thing to do for that is to buy a tilting cover.

The PSP Slim and lite is available at most game stores ie Game and Gamestation aswell as some supermarkets for around 150 pounds which will normally include a game or two.

Summary: Great for on the go.
