I just bought a 'Pearl White' PSP 3000, my 4th PSP over the years. The reason why I purchased this one is that the PSN (Playstation Store) for the PS3 and PSP is starting to get very interesting, especially in terms of PsOne Classic releases. This will therefore be the first PSP that I will not be installing custom firmware on.

On taking it out the box I was fairly dissapointed with the lack of accessories you get with it. You get no cover / case for it, and no memory card whatsoever. I remember when I first got my phat PSP I got a fabric cover for it and a 32MB memory card. So just be warned that you will probably need to pick these things up soon after buying your PSP.

I didnt notice it at first, but the Pearl White PSP is actually quite shimmery, almost glittery under certain lighting conditions. It is fairly cool though, it has grown on me.

The PSP 3000 is much lighter and a little bit thinner than any of the previous releases, and it apparently has a better quality screen, with less glare. To be honest I havnt really noticed a difference, but I have not compared it side by side with an older version. The PSP 3000 has recieved some bad press lately in terms of screen issues (strange horizontal lines affecting certain games and movies), I am yet to see any of these problems.

Another addition is the microphone at the front, in order to make Skype or Go! calls. I probably will not be using this feature.

I would highly recommend this PSP for use with the ever growing library of great games on the Playstation Store.

Summary: Its either this or a DS, make your choice!
