Sony PSP slim - great features, but several problems (Sony PSP Slim & Lite)

Advantages: Picture quality, loads of games, lots of extra features, big screen

Disadvantages: Poor battery life, often slow and noisy

I bought the PSP from America, after deciding that the graphics of my GBA was rather dated! I was immediately impressed with the graphics quality, which surpassed all the other hand-held consoles I'd seen by far. The other thing which immediately struck me was how noisy and slow the system was! It seemed to take an age to do anything like open the browser or load a game, and made a lot of noise whenever anything on a UMD (the disks) was loading e.g. starting and saving games.

I was impressed with the variety of games available, from the classic shoot-em-ups to The Sims 2, FIFA and quiz games. The picture quality is also superb. However, one of my games must have got scratched, even though I kept it in its case, and no longer works, even when I cleaned it, which shows that UMDs are not as robust as the traditional game cartridges. I was also disappointed with the battery life, which ran low rather quickly.
Overall, I would recommend the PSP to anyone who wants a hand-held games console that does more than play games (e-mail, internet etc.), wants great picture quality and does not mind it being a bit noisy or having to buy a spare battery.

Summary: Great handheld, but lots of room for improvement
