Does someone you know like playing computer games and your still looking for that perfect Xmas present then I hope this review on Sony's PlayStation Portable Lite points you in the right direction.
I am a big fan of the PlayStation and was really happy when Sony made the PlayStation Portable although I was a bit worried about the quality of the game play and how good the graphics would be but I bought one at the beginning of the year and I love it.
The speed of the game play is really good and the quality of the graphics is up to the usual PlayStation standards and I was also glad to see that you could even get the big name games such as Grand Theft Auto, Medal of Honour, The Simpson's and many others.
The PSP is very light to handle and easy to use as it is set up just like a PS controller,
Measuring 17 cm in length, 7 cm in height and 2 cm in width the PSP is very compact and with its wide screen it makes playing games a joy.
There are many features to the PSP than just playing games which really surprised me, such as an in built MP3 player, being able to connect to the internet, downloading photos to your PSP and many more but the feature that surprised me the most was the fact you can watch feature length movies on it.
The games and movies come on small discs called UMD's (Universal Media Disc) which are specially made for the PSP and are really easy to load into the PSP but don't do what I did and try to take the disc out of its outer casing thinking it was only a case but the whole thing goes into the PSP at the back.
I was also really surprised at all the accessories you can get for the PSP such as protective cases, a cable which connects your PSP to the TV so you can play games on the TV, memory cards, batteries that last longer than the one supplied with the PSP, you can also buy some special software and use your PSP as a sat nav in your car.
The PSP comes with a Battery, Charger and instruction manual and I highly recommend that you read the manual first so that you get the most out of your PSP.
I find the PSP really good fun to use and a lot better than its rival the Nintendo DS as my partner has one and when I had a go on it I was very disappointed with it especially after all the hype and found its lack of features a let down and difficult to handle, my partner also admitted that they preferred the PSP because its graphics where a lot better.
I would highly recommend the PSP to anyone as it is really good fun what with all its features and its many games and movies, I would also suggest that you shop around for a good deal because at this time of year there will be a lot of offers on or you could wait to the new year for the price to drop.
Summary: A great little console for use at home, in the office, whilst travelling and on holiday!
