Daewoo DX-7840 DVD & VCR Recorder combi

      ~~ Purchase ~~

I purchased this item as I had previously had a separate VCR Record and DVD player. I bought it online for about £300 about 4 years ago. I was looking for something that would combine a DVD player and video player in one box and whereby I could have the option of recording either on a VCR Tape or a DVD on one box. I did a fair bit of research and combi all the boxes; however at the time it was not easy to find I had to really look for it and I spoke to a number of people before I pinned down this online.

      ~~The Look~~

Weight and dimensions are Width 435, Height 98 and depth 255mm. It comes in a brushed silver effect Note 'effect' it is actually a plastic composite casing. It is a very light item - surprisingly so but still feels fairly sturdy in my opinion. It fits under the sky box easily and you can also video direct from your sky box to video or DVD if you so wanted too. It came with remote control which is very easy to use and nice and light but not too small you end up losing it down the sofa. It also came with a full user manual, however setting this up was a doodle - probably one of the easiest to set up and since then I have not had to refer to the manual at all - not once.

It has a LCD screen at the front which at a glance you can see when it is on, also you can set a clock on there if you so wish (personally I have never bothered).

      ~~What it Does~~

The beauty of this is yes you can record things individually on a DVD or Tape but the biggest sway for me was I can record my old VHS tapes to DVD at the touch of a button on a direct transfer button. The reason I particularly wanted this feature is because I wanted to be able to transfer a lot of my old home videos to DVD. Bingo this does just that.

It boasts infrared technology, apparently it is MP3 compatible (not that I have used it for that) but the option is there. It has a good number of connections at the back ie two for scart leads, and also a 21 pin scart also 2 video leads (one at the front).

      ~~Using it~~

All-in-all this been incredibly reliable, space saving, (as I no longer have to have 2 different players and fiddle about at the back swapping leads over when I want to play a dvd or a video). It records smoothly and easily. The DVD facility allows you to format a disk in about 9 seconds on screen (and approximately pressing 4 buttons in a set order); it is a breeze to do and the one press of the record button and you are away.

It has been absolutely brilliant all the time I have used it. I can record straight off the TV to my DVDs or can record on to video, or play a video or a dvd just by choosing the option DVD or Video.
I have been very happy with the function of this great buy, although the initial outlay was expensive on purchase it has been great to use - so easy and quick; quiet and very reliable.

I would recommend this item 100%.. I give it 5 stars.
