... a clock dimmer is essential I don?t know but it works and maybe saves on power which I?m not sure. The video also has an on screen display of channel and time, also with menu options when required for adjustments which are made push button easy. A channel auto search for setting up with the DVD and TV is amazing it makes life so easy it does the work for you when setting up the channels. I bought this VCR just after the wide screen TV (see older review) and the DVD player they are all made by LG a make which I have come to love. The VCR cost £50 not much for a VCR but a good quality buy, I didn?t spend so much on the VCR because I mostly have DVDs and had bought the wide screen TV. But this Video recorder has many mod cons associated with great visual and audio play; it has auto play when u put the video in u need not press the play button. And auto tracking for that nightmare of older videos, with the snow on the top and the bottom of the TV screen, this copes easily with that and minimizes the effects when total removal is not possible.
