I have been using the free version of AVG internet security ever since I found a Trojan had passed through my Norton Internet Security, this was immediately found and removed by AVG. When it came time to renew my Norton account I decided to opt for the more reliable AVG.

AVG Internet Security 8.0 protects your computer from threats such as worms, viruses and Trojans. The right of the window has large icons for Antivirus, Antispyware, Rootkit, and Update. With 12 icons in all, below each icon it tells you if that feature is active. Clicking an icon either accesses additional information about that tool or runs that scan. The left of the window has three options, overview, computer scanner, and update now.

AVG Internet Security 8.0 also protects from threats caused by downloaded images, music, and from instant messaging and peer-to-peer file transfers.

Overall this software provides great value for money though its anti-phishing leaves something wanting and it does not go into detail about malicious threats when if flags them up, though for the average user this is not a problem.
