Avira Antivir Personal Edition Classic

I have used nearly every free AV product available on the market over the years and I have settled upon Avira as my recent favourite for free AV protection. The only annoying thing about the program is the annoying banner that pops up when the program automatically updates. Only mildly annoying, but still! Other than that I have to say I'm impressed, very very impressed. The product has a reasonably small footprint with regard to resources it uses. Having used Avira Antivir Antivirus for a period of time I can recommend this product, mainly for its competent and thorough scanning ability. I have found it to be fast, efficient and it doesn't overly drain system resources when in background guard mode or when scanning. Updates for the database are available very frequently as are updates for the program engine. This software is solid and goes about its work without much fuss providing peace of mind to a PC user especially if shopping or banking on the web. Avira Anti Virus Personal This recently has been an up and coming competitor and rival to the well known AVG Free anti virus (which I have reviewed) and is taking the free anti virus market by storm. I have been using this program for a good 3 years now and have had no problem with my PC what so ever. It has kept the virus definitions up to date daily and has scanned my PC weekly without slowing down my work rate.
