Nowadays we hold a lot of our memories and lives on our home computers with the likes of our photos, videos, music and social network information all something we either look at or use on a regular basis. For many the security of this information is not something that comes to mind but with more and more viruses being made each and every minute of the day and so much information for people to take so we really need to be sure our details are secure so who do we trust? For me the ones I have entrusted are Kaspersky 2011 Anti Virus but with so much at risk why do I choose this programme?
Kaspersky is a brand that has been around for a number of years and is one of the big names in the computer security and protection game so you can trust in them having the experience and people to look after you well (this includes their support staff who I had to contact once and they fixed my issue with an installation of another programme of theirs straight away).
The programme can be purchased either online as a download or as a single disk but either way the installation of this programme was very simple and thanks to the automatic updates downloads then it means that once you have installed this it will keep this programme up to date for you.
This programme works simply and easily. Once you have installed this then it will run in the background for you and protect your information. Want to ensure everything is ok then you can ask for it to scan your computer and let it do a full scan to make sure all is clean and clear.
Monitors your computer over many areas including your internet connection, networks, hard drives, external items you plug in, etc to make sure that no matter where the attack is coming from then you can feel safe in the knowledge this programme is there for you.
A huge database of viruses, trojans, etc that will ensure that you have the best protection that you can buy.
This software does not impact on your PC running to the extent of some of the other anti-virus software out there which allows you to just keep going as you are and so not notice the hard work this is actually doing for you.
This is great value for money as it offers up 3 computer support for 1 year and at an exceptional price.
Overall I have had a great experience of this as no viruses to report. The programme will run along nicely in the background and not impact on your PC running speeds as much as other anti-virus software out there which is hugely important but means that you don't see the programme and how much hard work it is doing...this is a great thing and something I am appreciative of. The support on offer from Kaspersky if you need them is very impressive (I had to contact them with a problem with Kaspersky Pure which led to me obtaining this programme instead but they were extremely quick and helpful in their support). Great programme at a great price and so highly recommended.
After being a Norton user for more than five years (I got a discount through a job) I decided I was getting a little tired of some annoying issues I was continuing to have them. Though there virus protection was good, there were too many false-positives, meaning that it was quarantining a safe file and I would have to go through an annoying process to recover the file. It was maddeningly frustrating, which is why I decided to switch to Kaspersky, which I had heard many good things about. I am here to confirm that these positive reviews are 100% true.
Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2011 provides some of the best protection I have ever seen in any AV provider, any year. I even did a couple test runs with it to see how it would react to known malware. So yes, as stupid as it might seem to you I went and downloaded and installed what I knew were viruses. There's no need to worry, Kaspersky detected and destroyed these viruses in a matter of seconds. This software is known for detecting and dealing with viruses with only minimal input from the user required. That's true.
Though on occasion Kaspersky has frustrated me by not opening files or running applications, it is much, much less than with Norton. On Kaspersky a problem with a legitimate file usually will happen once every week or two, as opposed to Norton where it seemed like every day. Also, recovering files that Kaspersky quarantines is a breeze for any moderate computer user.
---Speed and Space---
Norton (though it has gone down over the years) is well-known for always taking up a lot of space with RAM and slowing down computers that are a bit older. Kaspersky does not have this flaw, my desktop is around 3 years old and runs it without a problem. The only time it has ever slowed me down when online is when it is downloading updates for its known malware database. However, these updates only take a couple of minutes, go grab yourself a coffee, by the time your back it will be updated and your computer will be fast as ever.
In conclusion, I would recommend Kaspersky to anyone who is looking to seriously buff up the security of their PC. I have dealt with many friends computers who are completely screwed up viruses. After fixing up their systems I always recommend this software to them, it's cheap, it's light, and it works to perfection.
I had the 2010 version of this product up until about two months ago when it then ran at, so I upgrade to this one at a discount price. As a first note with many different protection models out there this one is good for its price and is brilliant on protection as well.
One real key feature I like about this product is the menu and user interface, it is quick and clear where a button will take you and what you will be able to do once your there. Setting it up is simple as you will get help from the software as it is installing, and even if you do have any problems their help service is very friendly and frequently has fully English speakers, despite it being a Russian product.
You can customise what to scan, what to block and what to left through the firewall, which is great if you have family members which are not carefully when on the internet be it downloading songs from unsavoury websites. Scanning is thorough, maybe too thorough, some scans can take a very long time, I think the largest scan took 12 hours with 9 hours being the most common. Now obviously this is not a realistic time for casual PC users but there were a few considerations to take into account due to my computer. As I am a massive gamer and I share the PC with three others they are a lot of files store on numerous drives and a lot of memory to go through. So that puts a bit of perspective on the times, but if you have got a insane amount of files a full scan would not take that long maybe towards 3 hours max.
There are different types of scans it can do, full, quick and customisable the quick scan is very short maybe 20 to 30 minutes and is good when your in a rush and want to check the important system files for any problems. I could customise my scan to only do my drive and save myself many hours, but as I am in charge of the maintaining the computer I have to select all the drives, which is easy to do with the user interface.
When a scan is complete you can click to view the reports, as it does not pop up after a scan so as not to be too intrusive on the user. The reports are easy to read and often have bar charts colour coded and labelled to fully explain some of the data available. There are allow buttons which can lead you to a link which shows you the amount of dangers currently out there in the world, which is useful when you see sudden spikes in malware counts. Most users may not even use any of these functions and just use the scan system which is fine, the software updates automatically and you can set the scans to run a times you state. So if you not a huge fan of computers you can set this program up in a way which means you would not have to touch it again.
I recently renewed my Kaspersky 2010 for Kaspersky 2011. By renewing from my existing service i saved 20%.
I paid £31, everywhere else i looked this package was £39.99. If i'd upgraded as well, i could have got 25% off, but i didn't feel the need.
Now i've looked in to it, i think ikt is available more reasonably. But i didn't think £30 for the year was bad at all.
I had the choice of ordering a bcakup disc or just downloading straight from the internet. I opted for the ltter option, hoping that i don't need the disc, if i do i think i can get it at a later date.
Basically, the download talks you through what to do. I had to download an additional tool to get rid of some viruses before i could download the Kaspersky 2011, but it talked me thorugh all of the downloads and what to do when.
I paid online, downloaded straightaway with 3 days left of my current subscription. With having to download additional tools, the whole process took me about 3 hour. To be honest if i was more tech savvy, i think i could have done it more quickly.
As soon as i restarted my computer, it was up and running. It gave me 366 days of cover and a little clock counting down the days.
I only have a laptop, so just got cover for 1 computer for 1 year. There were options for multiple computers and multiple years.
OK, i'm not too sure about worms and trojans, it means very little to me! However, what i do know is that i have had Kaspersky for a year and my email, internet and documents are all safe. It alerts me when there is a problem and i can make the decision whether to reject or whether to automatically reject.
The little Kaspersky icon sits in the bottom right of my computer screen. I right click to scan for problems - it tells me whether everything is OK or whether i need to do something. When i switch on, a pop up appears telling me where my security stands. Since installing the 2011 software, this has continued and all is good on my laptop.
The software chcks for Viruses, Trojans, worms and other malware, spyware and adware. It updates itself without me needing to do something. For the details of the software, i'd advise going to the Kaspersky website, or looking at the details on Amazon.
It offers an automatic renewal option, so you just recive an email next year before your subscription ends and it will automatically renew.
This version also alerts me if there's something potentially dodgy with an internet site.
I've not got any complaints about this software. I like that it was hassle free to install, reasonable and seems to offer good overall protection for me.
