Advantages: New & Improved Features, Low Impact On System Resources, Easy To Use, Low Cost,
Disadvantages: None.
From Kaspersky comes Internet Security 2010, software developed and designed to automatically protect your computer from all manners of threats. From viruses, and malware, to spyware, identity theft, and spam, Kaspersky claims to protect you from it all. The question is how well does it work, and does it do enough to separate it from the competition.
This latest version of Kaspersky Internet Security includes a number of new and improved features in its heroic attempt to ensure that you have a safer online experience. New features included the colour coding of links to unsafe websites, the ability to run untrusted applications and websites in a 'safe mode', and to turn on Game Mode' which temporary stops scanning and updates. Also improved from previous versions is the protection from identity theft, anti-phishing in emails, the blocking of suspicious programs, and the ability to burn a Rescue CD to return your system in the event of a catastrophic infection. The software also includes the award winning Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2010.
The ability to run untrusted applications and websites in 'Safe Mode' is a welcome feature, one that has already proved useful for myself. I personally like the virtual keyboard as it offers and additional safe guard from keyloggers.
During the installation Kaspersky did recommend that I uninstall my AVG security toolbar before continuing, which to tell you the truth I had been planning on doing for some time anyway. It is replaced by Kaspersky's own colour coding of links to unsafe websites. Otherwise installation was simple and pretty straightforward.
Thankfully another benefit of Kaspersky is its minimum impact on your systems resources. It runs perfectly happily in the background without much user input required.
Thanks to an optimised and well laid out user interface, and easy to use features I found Kaspersky to be a very user friendly in terms of using the software. It's easy to understand the various components and personalise them to your own preferences.
With everything on offer, Kaspersky seems to offer very comprehensive protection covering all aspects imaginable. At your disposal is nothing less than an entire arsenal of security tools that covers all the bases and beefs up your security on all sides. Taking into account the new and improved features of Kaspersky as well as the excellent price (currently £20.56 on Amazon.co.uk) this software is excellent value for money and worthy of serious consideration.
(The version being reviewed comes with a 3 user 1 year license.)
