Advantages: great little antimalware program
Disadvantages: none
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
Another brilliant freebie which can be found at www.download.com and can help protect your PC from malicious crap intent on ruining your computing experience.
It is a small program with a lot of muscle...
*WHAT DOES IT OFFER..?
When you open the program it is a simple looking home page offering many easy options which are...
1) SCANNER... giving you the choice of a 'quick scan', which scans your PC for the most common 'malware' or there's the 'Full Scan' which will scan your entire PC and does take a little time to perform, depending on what is on your system.
Any offending 'bugs' will appear in red so as to alert you.
2) PROTECTION... offers the option of purchasing a licence key which will help stop little bugs even getting on to your system.
3) UPDATE... give you the chance to update your ' Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware' with the click of a button, keeping your system the chance to protect itself from intruders.
4) QUARANTINE... Shows you what 'malware' this little gem has captured from your PC... giving you the option to delete or even restore them???
5) LOGS... Shows you all the logs that 'Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware' has taken during its time on your system.
6) IGNORE LIST... Shows a list of 'malware' which has been asked to be ignored as it is deemed trusted.
7) SETTINGS... Allows the user to change the settings to preferred options.
8) MORE TOOLS... Allows you to have the options of collecting information, reporting bugs or even reporting false positives... also there is an icon which is called 'fileAssasin' which can apparently delete locked files on your system. (although I have never used this as yet).
9) ABOUT... which tells you about the program itself and gives you a link to www.malwarebytes.org
*PLUS...
You do have the option of purchasing an upgrade, which at present is £21.44, and can be found by pressing the 'purchase' link on the top right of the 'about' page
* IN CONCLUSION...
Another nice little program which will help keep computers a little safer.
This simple program scans your system and can pick out many nasty little things, including the dreaded Trojan.DNSchanger... which is a little bit of a pain in the rear end... (and allegedly the latest type of this can also affect the once thought invincible Mac users, according to latest reports...)
I tend to run the 'quick scan at least once a day, usually after I have updated it, as it only takes a matter of minutes to scan my system and it does enjoy finding any little nastiness that is trying to hide away from me... giving me the opportunity to keep my PC running nice and smoothly...
The 'full scan can take a while but as it doesn't slow your system down to much you can still browse a little, although if you are doing a scan with any program I tend to stay off-line until the scan is over, (personal choice of course).
I do realise that there are many programs of this type on the market these days...and a lot are very expensive for what they actually offer... but this little freebie is worth the few minutes it takes to download and install as it tends to find a lot of 'malware' that some paid for programs fail to spot...
In all it is a good scanner, both quick and full, and is so easy to use you will be scanning your PC till the cows come home with this one... it has helped me find several little horrors so far and getting rid of them couldn't be simpler as one click sends them all into quarantine so they wont give you any more trouble..
Give it a go... you wont be disappointed at all...
