Mcafee Virusscan Plus 2008 is a good improvement on earlier versions of the product.It continues to use "the bootstrap method" of downloading code to your pc and then installing it module by module.The security centre is the first thing that is downloaded and modules are added to it depending on what you have purchased.
Uninstall is only via the control panel but unlike norton that leaves files and registry entries scattered everywhere it was a nice surprise that after uninstalling and a reboot the suite left no evidence of it ever having been there which is a great improvement on earlier versions.
The interface is crisp and well laid out, offering basic or advanced tools.
The single use of integrating all its products into the one security suite panel is intuitive and the whole suite seems more integrated.
The overall performance of this product is about somewhere in the middle-not the best, but by no means the worse.
One gripe is that in the integrated security suite you may not have purchased (or wanted) some of the extra security options available like parental control for example, but the centre will list it as "needing attention" which can be annoying and make you feel as though you are not completely protected.
For the purpose of protecting your pc, then McAfee will certainly do that, but for the discerning user who demands the highest and best protection available then I suggest that you look elsewhere.
