Advantages: Great all around protection.

Disadvantages: Machine performance is affected drastically.

I havn't used Norton for a long time since the days of Windows 98. It was a great piece of software, good at what it did and took little resources. It all however, has now changed.
It is still good at detecting malicious programs and is now packaged with its own firewall and spyware protection. The resources problem however is a big issue. I had recently reinstalled Windows XP on my computer and decided to give Norton 360 a go, so I proceeded to download the trial.
The installation was stupid and seemed to take forever to install, it didn't get much better after the restart. The effects showed immediatly at startup when it took a fair few minutes more to startup to the login screen. Once logged in I started to use my computer as normal, web browsing, emails, MSN and some games. After an hour or so I removed the software, the huge decrease in speed of my machine was pathetic, i've never known anything else like it other than Viruses themselves.

Summary: For all around protection Norton 360 is good, but you will notice a PC performance decrease.
