Advantages: All-in-one suite

Disadvantages: Very poor detection rate

Well I have to say this is my most detested product in the world ever! I have always thought that Norton products were the best on the market, how wrong was I. In the beginning, when I was not as computer literate as I am now, we were told by PC world that Norton was the best and that we should get it for our system. The biggest problem is, although Norton is the worst product, it is the most popular amongst average computer users because everyone sells it and it is relatively cheap plus they sponsor places like PC world and Comet.
We had Norton 360 for a year and after reading some reviews and industry facts I came to the conclusion that Norton was not at all the best but the worst at everything.

For one it is incredibly heavy on resources, it absolutely eats RAM and 'rapes' your CPU so that even the most mundane tasks like loading up Word take longer than usual. Second, Norton 360 has the worst detection rate for malware I have ever seen. Third, you cannot be the best at everything so it is a good idea to get the best anti-virus and the best firewall on the market not a combined suit that does everything.
So what do I recommend I hear you cry? Well the best products I have found are free, yes free, I suggest AVG 8.5 free which is an anti-virus program with a better detection rate and lower on resources than Norton 360. What's the catch, there is none.

I fear though that Norton 360 and other Norton products will stay around for some time yet as its popularity still seems to be high although it has the worst detection rate. If you don't believe me read around, you'll be as surprised as I was. Want my advice, stay clear and go down the free route, or if you want to pay choose something better.

Summary: Not a good alrounder and the worst detection rate ever!
