      Highly recommended!

This really doesn't sound possible but since my daughter began taking these Daily Energiser pastilles (initially to build her energy after a bout of flu) she no longer suffers debilitating asthma attacks! For the past 16 years she has suffered with daily bouts of asthma - sometimes triggered by pet/pollen allergies/stress - but often brought on when walking or exercising, and at night (especially during hayfever season or in cold weather). After just a few days of taking these pastilles (one a day), she rang me in a very excited state saying that her chest no longer felt wheezy and that she hadn't had to use her asthma pump at all, not even when walking her daughter to school. Since then she has been to visit her nan and has not had any allergic reactions to the cat (normally she would need to use her asthma pump and take antihistamines). It's just amazing! She is so happy that at last she can do normal things without feeling so ill. We know for sure that it is the taking of these Bassetts pastilles that rids her of the asthmatic problems because for a period of 3 weeks she was unable to find anyone selling them locally to her new home and, once again, she began suffering the dreaded wheezing. I then managed to order a few boxes online for her and, yet again, those symptoms have subsided. We are not doctors so we cannot explain in detail why this works for her - but it does. We couldn't understand how a little energy pastille could rid her of this ailment. So I did a little research into some of the ingredients, in particular the CoQ10 (as I'd never heard of it before) and lo and behold I discovered that some early research has shown that CoQ10 may be beneficial to asthma sufferers (amongst other things) and that some people may not have to use their asthma pumps as often as before. Well, in my daughter's case, she hasn't had to use it at all. Obviously, we are all different - so what works for one person may not be the same for another but I am just writing to give you our personal experience of taking these Daily Energiser pastilles. We did notice that the box used to state "CoQ10" on the front but that has now been removed for some reason, although it is still listed in the ingredients (thank goodness!). Each pastille contains just 10mg of CoQ10 (Co-enzyme Q10), so we are assuming that my daughter must have been slightly deficient in this (and possibly B vitamins) and this small amount is enough to have "cured" her asthma and pet allergy! There is still a lot of research that needs to be concluded on CoQ10 as to other beneficial effects (e.g. for heart disease, alzheimers, blood pressure etc) but for now all we can say is "Thank you!" to Bassetts for creating a pastille that is easy and pleasant to take, available off the counter with no fuss or prescription and, all importantly, containing the little miracle, namely CoQ10. I was so impressed that I have begun taking the Daily Energiser pastilles myself and have noticed a remarkable difference in my ability to walk uphill without getting "puffed out". I can only recommend people give these pastilles a try, especially if you have similar health problems to that of my daughter. You have nothing to lose. At the very least you are getting a good vitamin supplement to boost your energy and, who knows, you could find that it alleviates your asthmatic symptoms.

Soft, chewy and tasty orange flavoured pastilles to boost health and energy levels.

Bassetts Soft & Chewy Daily Energiser Vitamin Pastilles Although I try to eat healthily, get my five portions of fruit and veg each day and exercise regularly, I sometimes feel that I'm not getting all the vitamins and minerals that I need. I've also been feeling quite run-down and tired recently, so I decided to buy myself some vitamins to get myself into the habit of taking them each day. I planned to purchase a bog-standard, run-of-the-mill bottle of cheap vitamins, but I spotted a box of Bassetts Soft & Chewy Daily Energiser Vitamin Pastilles on special offer, and the idea of chewy, fruit-flavoured vitamins really appealed to me. Here's how I've got on with them over the last few weeks since buying them. Packaging These vitamins come in a white cardboard box with a green and purple colour scheme which houses 20 pastilles in two plastic trays with foil backings. The front of the box has text outlining the brand name, product name and tells us that these are 'for adults', 'delicious citrus flavoured pastilles' and contain B vitamins and CoQ10. There is a silhouette image of a lady in heels and a handbag, suggesting that these vitamins are aimed at adults (particularly females, perhaps) who lead busy lives. The back of the box contains more comprehensive information. It sets out that these pastilles help to promote: 1) Energy levels and metabolism 2) Immune health 3) Good general health The sides of the box provide an ingredient list, nutrition information (i.e. how many milligrams of various ingredients each pastille contains and the percentage of an adults Recommended Daily Allowance that they provide) and warnings not to exceed the daily allowance of one pastille per day and not to substitute food supplements for a varied diet. The Vitamins The packaging describes these vitamins as having being developed 'to support those who lead busy and hectic lives and would like to maintain their energy levels throughout the day - and night'. They are for use by people over the age of 12 and contain a number of ingredients specifically included to help their target users: * CoQ10 to promote energy levels and metabolism * B Vitamins (B2, B5, B6 and B12) which help with energy, metabolism, cognitive function, heart and blood health and help keep nails, hair and skin healthy * Vitamins C and E for healthy skin and gums, iron absorption and antioxidant protection of body tissues. Taking these vitamins is easy: you simply have to pop one out of the foil-backed tray and chew it up. And now onto the main question that I'm sure many people will have about these vitamins: how do they taste? Well, I was a little surprised when I tried one of these pastilles for the first time, as the green colour scheme used on the packaging and their description of being 'citrus' flavoured led me to assume that these would be lime or lemon and lime flavoured. However, these are in fact orange, both in flavour and colour. Taste-wise, I find that they taste very similar to a Rowntrees fruit gum (the orange flavour, obviously!), and I do feel a little bit like I'm eating a sweet rather than a supplement. One thing I have noticed when eating these vitamins is that once or twice I've been left with a horrible, bitter after-taste a few minutes after eating one. Strangely, this doesn't happen each time I have one of these pastilles. However, the taste was so bad that I now ensure I either brush my teeth or have a big drink after taking one of these vitamins, as I don't want that after-taste again. With regards to how much these pastilles meet their aim to increase energy levels and metabolism and to boost both immune and general health, I'm not sure how much I can comment. I've certainly noticed that my energy levels have increased since I started taking them, although I wouldn't want to attribute this to this product alone as I'm well aware that numerous factors contribute to health and wellbeing and I'd never want to depend on a supplement alone to keep me healthy. Nonetheless, in my book, any product that claims to boost energy and ensure I get the vitamins and minerals I need to stay healthy is worth trying. The vitamins also provide over 100% of an adult's RDA of various vitamins (e.g. 114% of RDA for vitamin B2, 100% B5 and 143% B6) which I think is fantastic. Price and Availability I purchased these vitamin pastilles from my local Tesco's store where they were on a long-term '3 for 2' offer across a wide range of vitamins and supplements. I've also seen them in Sainsbury's on the same offer, and I've seen them being sold in branches of Boots and Superdrug and in independent chemists and pharmacies. These are clearly a popular product as they seem to be widely stocked, along with other vitamin pastilles manufactured by Bassetts. At a price of £3.55 for 20 pastilles, or £5.65 for a pack of 30, these are more costly than your bog-standard bottle of vitamin tablets. However, I personally think it's worth paying the extra money, as the taste and pastille-texture really help to ensure that I take my vitamins everyday. My Conclusions As I hope that my review has shown, I've been really happy with these pastilles. I really like their taste and texture and the fact that I enjoy eating them has definitely made sure that I remember to take a supplement everyday. As an adult who does lead a bit of a hectic lifestyle, causing me to suffer sometimes with my health and my energy levels, I feel that these vitamins have been designed with people like myself in mind and I do feel that they've made me feel healthier and more energised. I think that the one drawback of these supplements is the price: at £3.55 for a pack of 20 pastilles (which, taken daily, will last less than three weeks), there are certainly cheaper alternatives available which I'm sure would provide as many vitamins and other beneficial ingredients. Nonetheless, I'm happy to pay a bit more for a product like this, as I tend to forget to take ordinary vitamins whereas I've had no problems remembering to take these. Some people may think that making vitamins look and taste like sweets is gimmicky or even dangerous, but I think it's a great way of getting adults to take their supplements. It's also definitely worth looking out for these on offer as numerous stores (like Tesco, Sainsbury's and Boots) have long-term '3 for 2' offers on vitamins and supplements. Overall, I'm giving these Bassetts Soft and Chewy Daily Energiser Vitamin Pastilles a very good score of four out of five. I'm knocking one point off as they're not the cheapest supplements in the world, but I still think they're a great product.

        Not the ultimate cure!

Over the last several months - especially since starting my second year at university - I have noticed that I have become more tired and lethargic and my general daily routine has appeared to become more and more of a struggle rather than a natural process. Moreover, during the last two months in particular I have started to get severe headaches and I have found myself taking more and more naps throughout the day. Now, I couldn't go through a full day without taking a nap at some point, if I can't fit in a nap during the day I find myself feeling really ill and as a result I tend not to be able to get out of the bed the next day. Obviously my first thought was to visit the doctors, after several blood tests the results came back as normal. On a positive note that means there was nothing seriously wrong but it did not help in my conquest to rid myself of my tiredness and headaches. Soon after I started on a self-remedy route, to start I would by vitamin drinks from marks and spencer's at the train station daily to give me a little boost, this would see me through the train journey home without falling to sleep but it did not offer a permanent solution. I came across the basset's soft and chewy daily energiser whilst on a routine shop in asda. I had planned to buy some sort of vitamins and since I am rather a fan of the basset soft and chewy range I found these the perfect item to buy. The daily energisers can be bought for £3.48 a packet in asda, each packet containing 20 pastilles. These daily energisers, as suggested by the manufacturer, are designed for busy or sluggish people who need a natural energy boost. They also state that they are to improve general health, the immune system, and metabolism and to generally increase energy levels. If you ask me, this is a lot of promise for one small pastille that looks tastes and feels like a jelly sweet. When I first took one of these pastilles I was soon to notice that they are very similar to that of the children's orange bassets that my mum used to feed to me in replacement of the carrots and any other fruit and veg type that would accidently find its way into the dogs bowl! The pastilles have a very squishy feel and as mentioned above look very much like a jelly sweet. Upon tasting them, again the sweet came to mind. They have a very citrusy flavour, they do taste very fresh and sweet but they do have a very very faint chemically taste, but that's me just being fussy. Over all I don't find them a hindrance to have to take every day as they do actually taste rather nice. Despite tasting rather nice these pastilles are not a miracle cure. They haven't cured my tiredness or my headaches, I do feel a little less sluggish but it is not at all what I would call a great improvement. To be honest I wasn't expecting these to be excellent, but the effect I get from these I could quite easily get from a cup of coffee. So as you can imagine, not amazing. Despite not doing much to help, I have continued to take these, I don't actually know why; perhaps I am thinking they will suddenly keep me awake all day, I somehow can't see it. I bought two packets from asda as they were on special offer but I won't be buying anymore once they run out. There are many other vitamins that I can try; perhaps they will do a better job.

          Disadvantages

Not for me these and I'm very upset they are not!

One thing that I really suffer with is feeling tired all the time and there are a few reasons for this. Not only do I have too many late nights I eat the wrong food, drink too much coffee and smoke loads and I also suffer with M.E, Thyroid (Hyperthyroidism) and have an eating disorder (Bulimia). I have tried everything to combat my tiredness from taking vitamins, tonics and drinking all sorts of teas. I have taken caffeine supplements, used S.A.D inspired lights....I've spent a fortune over the years and really nothing has made much of a difference to me at all! I sleep about 14 hours a time, drop off to sleep often and I'm just used to it but my main issue is not being able to concentrate for long and about 8pm most evenings I've had it and can't think straight at all! My mate bought me these a couple of weeks ago when she spotted them in our local Asda store as she knows how much I suffer with it all and she treated me to them and I was very happy to try them out! The Packaging: The pastilles come in a white and green coloured box and on the front of the box we are told that they are Bassetts Soft & Chewy Daily Energiser 'With B Vitamins And CoQ10', For Adults Delicious Citrus Pastilles and there are 20 pastilles in the box. On the back of the box other information listed includes being told a bit about the product, ingredients and warnings are listed, there is a chart displayed telling you what vitamins these contain, we are given directions for using them and contact details for the manufacturer are given. Inside the box there are 2 plastic and silver foil backed trays of which on both trays we are told what they are very clearly all over them what they are. Informative packaging this is. A Bit About The Product According To The Information Given On The Box: These essential vitamins help to promote: Energy levels and metabolism Immune health Good general health Delicious Vitamins For Life: Bassett's Soft & Chewy 'Daily Energiser' has been specially developed to support those who lead busy and hectic lives and would like to maintain their energy levels throughout the day - and night! CoQ10: Helps to promote: Energy metabolism B Vitamins (B2, B5, B6, B12): Helps To promote: Energy and metabolism Vitamins C & E: Helps To Support: Healthy skin and gums Antioxidant protection of body tissues Iron absorption into the body Dosage Advice: Suggested Daily Intake: 1 Pastille Daily For an extra boost take 3 pastilles daily The Pastilles: Small and yellow and like a jelly consistency these pastilles taste slightly citrusy, sweet and really natural in flavours and I love em and look forward to eating my three day! They are like great sweets basically! I did try chewing up one pastille a day but after not feeling any benefit from doing so nowadays (and for the past couple of weeks) eat three of them. They are tasty, soft and moist to chew and disappear quite quickly and leave no weird aftertaste and they are simply refreshing. Containing all the vitamins mentioned above in this review (in varying amounts) I did expect these to help with my general tiredness and I space them out throughout the day but I have to be honest that although they taste lovely they don't work at all for me. Whether they would help as a general boost to most people I don't know but for me with all my health issues they simply don't work a jot not even temporarily! Whether they help with skin, hair, nails, heart and blood health I can't be sure but I do not feel perky at all! Not worth taking in my case sadly and I won't be taking them or purchasing them again! Available in all good chemists and supermarkets at about £4.00 a box
