I bought these berocca orange tablets from Boots recently after a friend of mine raved about their effectiveness against hangovers. I confess that I like a few glasses of wine during the week. There, I said it. I often wake up in the morning wondering how I'll get through the day with a fuzzy head and feeling a bit sick and spaced out but have always just put up with it as it's my own fault. That was until my friend recommended these. These tablets cost £4.50 for 15 and I got mine from a Boots store although I should imagine you can also get them from Superdrug other pharmacy and supermarkets. They come in a green and orange box and there are a few different flavours available but I got the orange. I keep these in the kitchen cupboard and I have to say I have never looked back since buying them. What you do is you drop one of these tablets into a glass of water and it immediately fizzes into action. It produces a very orange drink. I tend to give it a bit of a stir as it starting to finish fizzing as it can form a layer of kind of frothy weird stuff on top. The drink itself is very orangey as you would expect but not entirely unpleasant. I must be honest, this is not a drink that I think is a nice drink that I want to sip and savour. Instead I try to gulp it down in a couple of gulps, but it is a million times nicer than the days when all we had to help our hangovers were alka seltzer! The fact that this is so orangey already makes you think you are doing your body good putting such vitamins in and I honestly do believe this makes hungover mornings a lot more bearable!
I was introduced to Berocca by my partner who brought them home from a shopping trip one day. She said that it was good for you and that I should try and have one everyday. I've always been a bit wary of supplementary vitamins because I've never really seen the point of them, but I gave Berocca a go and I was quite impressed to be honest. To make the drink you add one of the tablets to a glass of water, it fizzes away and dissolves in the water to make an orange flavoured drink. I find that it doesn't taste particularly nice, but because it is supposed to be goof for you I normally down the glassful in one to get rid of it. I find it's not the sort of drink that you want to be sipping at. Now, from reading the information written on the side of the container it states that Berocca is best taken first thing in the morning to make the most of the day ahead. It also states that it can be taken every day throughout the year. I now have Berocca on most mornings as it's become part of my routine when I get up and it does make me feel invigorated. Some of my work mates also take Berocca in the morning and they rave about it too. The general idea is that it helps you to release your energy. Each Berocca tablet which will make one drink contains the following if you drink the whole lot - the numbers provided next to the contents are percentages of your recommended daily allowances: Vitamin C 595% Vitamin B1 945% Vitamin B2 971% Niacin 283% Vitamin B6 507% Folic Acid 183% Vitamin B12 344% Biotin 260% Panothenic Acid 378% Magnesium 25% Zinc 90% The containers that I purchase contain 15 tablets and can be purchased at most supermarkets and pharmacies. They cost around £6.00-£7.00. For any more information on Berocca you can visit www.berocca.co.uk I give Berocca tablets five dooyoo stars as they are a great start to the day *****. Early this year I was having a bad spell of low energy, therefore I started to look around for some vitamin boosts. I have never tried any Berocca Vitamin supplements before so I was not sure which one to get, as there were quite a few Berocca vitamin packs to choose from, however after some recommendations from my friends I decided to give Berocca Boost a try. == What is Berocca Boost == Berocca Boost is described as a vitamin suppliant that is meant to give the body instant fuel that kicks energy levels back into action when you feel your energy levels depleting. It comes in a form of favoured tables that are dissolvable in water, and comes in a box of 20 tablets. == Price == I purchased a box of 20 tablets from my local chemist for around £10, which does seem pricey for some vitamin energy boost tablets, but I was willing to give it a try due its rave reviews. == Ingredients == The great thing about Berocca Boost is that it does not contain any sugar, preservatives, harmful stimulants or to put it simpler it does not contain any nasty stuff. If you have had any adverse effects to caffeine in the past I would strongly suggest avoiding these supplements due the caffeine content. Vitamin B1: 1.40mg %RDA: 100 Vitamin B2: 1.60mg % RDA: 100 Nicotinamide: 18mg %RDA: 100 Pantothenic Acid : 6.00mg %RDA: 100 Vitamin B6: 2.00mg %RDA: 100 Folic Acid: 200mcg %RDA 100 Vitamin B12: 1.0mcg %RDA: 100 Biotin: 150mcg %RDA: 100 Vitamin C: 60mg %RDA 100 Calcium: 100mg %RDA 12.5 Magnesium: 100mg %RDA 33 Zinc: 9.50mg %RDA 59 Guarana (containing 40mg of caffeine) 222.2mg == How does it work == It contains a combination of minerals, Vitamin B and natural energiser called Guarana (caffeine) which is natural occurring and originates from Amazon Forest plants. Apparently the caffeine component is what links the vitamins and minerals together effectively to creates a fast acting energy boost and alertness. == Put to the test == The box contains two tubes with 10 tablets in each tube. The tubes very sealed with cap and a foil underneath and kept each tablet fresh. The box states that it should be taken regularly for it to have best results. I took one tablet every morning for a week to see if it had any positive effects on my energy levels. Its very simple to consume, all you do is pop one into one glass of water to let it dissolve into the liquid and when it is fully dissolved it is ready to drink. The water will become fizzy and cloudy when fully dissolved. As soon as I took a sip of the drink I was greeted with a nice fruity flavour, that I would describe as being a little citrusy. It has a fizzy consistency and therefore tastes like a nice fruit flavoured pop. I would definitely describe the taste as pleasant and refreshing. == Did it work? == For me, Yes they seemed to work quite quickly. I would say as soon as after day one I could feel a change in energy levels, I felt more energised and more alert throughout the day. It was not until 9pm when I started to feel tired again, but I would say that is a good thing as the last thing I would want is to feel wide awake before bed. I felt I was able to concentrate at work a bit better after the first dosage, and even after work I was able to run around with my nephew for a bit, while usually I would only play for a few minutes before slumping back onto the sofa! So this was a great little pick up as it allowed me to spend more bonding time with my nephew. I would say the real effects took place after day 3 or 4 and I felt a so much more better physically and mentally. I didn't have those urges to go back to bed as soon as I got back from work and instead would suggest going out for dinner! I only needed to take mine for about a week as I felt a lot better after a week so didn't really feel the need to take these unnecessarily as they are quite expensive so I didn't want to waste them. There are occasions when I would need a pick me up, and I would say these are ideal for giving that quick boost of energy, so I have these in my cupboard for emergencies! == Conclusion == Overall I would recommend these as they do exactly what they say on the box; provide a energy boost when you need it. It is easy to take and tastes great, however the only downside is that they are expensive, so for that reason alone they would lose a star.
Berocca is a brand of vitamin tablets that contains a combination of Group B vitamins and Vitamin C. USE Berocca comes in an orange flavour and is to be mixed with water before consuming. I use Berocca when I feel run down, all the time in the summer and especially on holiday in the sun. Draining heat and any days I do a large amount of exercise I always feel a little tired or sluggish I have a Berocca in the evening. It is meant to replace all the vitamins and minerals you've lost throughout the day and isn't the worst tasting thing in the world. I take it with just under a pint of water, stir for a few minutes and consume in one go. Cold water is best! However many people favour taking Berocca when waking up in the morning providing them with a fresher all day feeling and more energy. This too makes sense, I suppose it is just down to personal preference. The morning use is more a preventative measure which means you have to take it every day, where as I prefer only using it when I feel worse than I usually would. EFFECTIVENESS Whilst Berocca doesn't work miracles, or give me a sudden feeling of healthiness I think it helps keep me healthy and I always feel slightly fresher the next morning than I do if I don't take one. I'm not sure if this is partly a placebo effect, however even if it is I don't mind! Another great thing about Berocca is there are no side effects. Your urine goes a dark orange colour, but don't be alarmed this is simply excess vitamin B passing your system! Apart from that there are only positive effects from taking. CONCLUSION Bit of a short review however there isn't much more I can say! Berocca does a variation on the standard tablet called Berocca performance which has added nutrients such as zinc and calcium and comes in a variety of flavours other than orange (mixed berries and tropical) however it is more expensive and if the orange taste is ok for you I would simply stick with the original tablets. I would recommend to a friend if they are feeling a bit drained or struggle to consume their daily vitamin amounts. A solid 4 stars for me.
After 3 trips to the doctor as I constantly had a cold and 3 bouts of tonsilitis in 6 months, the doctor stated it was viral. I was told to eat a healthy diet and it will soon enough clear up. I have been a pescitarian for 25 years and do not eat processed food and cook all meals from scratch using fresh vegetables and fish - explained this to the doctor who kinda just shurgged me off. Feeling like I was wasting their time I journeyed back home to throw myself under a duvet and a, what felt like, a gallon of olbas oil. I burst into tears when the boyfriend walked through the door explaining what the doctor had said and repeatably said 'i think my body is trying to ruin me!!' - over exaggeration I know but after the constantly cold and tonsilitis I was emotional and down heartened. The next day, while getting ready for work, my boyfriend plonked down a glass of fizzy organge liquid and promptly told me to drink up. I didn't know what he had given me but anything was worth a go - YES I TRUST HIM! Within the hour of getting ready I was starting to feel a little bit more like a human being - a slightly pale and Rudolph version but defo human! I continued to take them for a week and I go literally feel the virus clearing. Its now 2 weeks since I started taking them and even though I still like im about to come down with a cold I can function, my head is clearer and no signs of tonsilitis. Yes they make your wee a funny colour and can be a little expensive but when you weigh up spending money on cold and flu remedies and time taken to travel to the doctor they more than pay for themselves. I am determined to get rid of this virus by the summer and I will do it on my own - thank-you doctor! Yes I can hear all of you sceptics saying 'placebo effect' but I genuinely didn't know what my boyfriend has made me until 5 days into taking it and fully immersed myself in his words of 'trust me!'. I understand not everything works for everyone but at least give this ago even if its only for a short-term boost.

If you've read my review of multivitamins, you will know that I don't believe they should be taken over extended periods as part of a normal diet. They are best used to provide specific short-term assistance. Berocca represents a premium example of your bog standard multivitamin tablet. By premium, read "expensive by comparison". The delivery system of a effervescent tablet that dissolves in liquid results in a faster, more efficient delivery into your system. The product is safe for vegetarians, but not for vegans (Vegetarian's infinitely more self-righteous cousin). Berocca is my experience is best used when you are feeling low, which means your body's defences are similarly low. This could be due to the onset (or duration) of a cold or a tummy bug. Many of the vitamins contained are water soluble ones, which means they cannot be stored in the body. This is a quick, easy way to give your defences a much needed boost. If you often feel low, for no discernable reason, it is well worth investigating your own diet to see if it needs tinkering with. I sometimes use Berocca to speed recovery after a particularly taxing gym session. I have no real proof whether it actually helps to the degree I think it does, but enough science is there that I feel relatively sure it does do what I'm taking it for. Note that it can change the colour of your wee. So no running to the doctor in a blind panic. A standard tube containing 16 tablets will last me a little over a month. My "dosage" is about one tablet every 2-3 days, though sometimes I go over a week without taking any. Each tablet works out at around 23p. The taste is definitely artificial, but not overly unpleasant. If you want to freak someone out, chew in your mouth without water and pretend to have orange rabies. Always good for a laugh ;)
During my uni days I tried every kind of stimulant/energy drink/supplement going. Red bull, Relentless, Pro-plus, Monster, Boost, Dextrose tablets and of course this product here Berocca. Being a mummy to a 1 year old whilst studying my final year of a Law degree was pretty tough work so meant I had a lot of late nights and early mornings and anything (legal!) that was going to help was worth a try. I used to see the adverts on tv and not really paying attention to what Berocca really was, until I was actually recommended this by a friend of mine on my course. She said they gave a really good energetic, healthy boost and was helping her on a sluggish day so I also thought I would give these a try. Berocca is an energy supplement with a combination of B and C vitamins and essential minerals. The ingredients of magnesium and vitamins B1 and B2 are to help release energy and offer a healthy way to give this extra buzz for the rest of the day. It also contains Vitamin C which supports a healthy immune system and is an antioxidant which helps protect cells & helps the body to absorb iron. The compilation of these ingredients is to give an easily consumed method for all the stuff thats meant to be good for us in one gulp if you ask me! I quite like Berocca but I am no good with orange (I don't know what it is, I can drink fanta etc but I hate orange juice or orange squash or anything - bleurgh!) so I actually buy the pack in the Mixed Berries flavour. They are relatively expensive as I recently bought a pack from Sainsburys and for 15 effervescent tablets costs £4 which is actually the price of these on offer so goodness knows about full price! The tablets are a round shape, a bit thick and chunky and simply drop the Berocca tablet into a glass of water, (the pack recommends 250ml but I never really measure this out) and then wait for the tablet to fully effervesce before drinking. I find the tablet dissolves quickly but I like to give it a stir to make sure it has combined with the water completely and doesn't just settle at the bottom. This then makes the water an off-pinkish colour. As for taste, it is clearly meant to be a "mixed berry" flavour but for me it has a rather tangy raspberry flavour which isn't all that nice! Saying that, nothing which is good for us tastes nice so I try and gulp it down in one go so as not to taste it too much. If I take this in the morning before I have a long day ahead, I do find this gives me a lovely boost and makes me feel better especially if I have a cold and I'm a bit sniffly and worse for wear, it gives me the drive to get up and go and get on with things. I don't take Berocca too frequently due to the high price tag and the not-so-nice taste but it is a really good supplement I would recommend. It comes in numerous flavours - orange, tropical, boost with Guarana and mixed berries so perhaps the other flavours may be nicer and worth a try :)
Superdrug do they're own brand of berocca if people are concerned about the price - in the effervescent form. I've compared the ingredients and they're pretty much identical. A tube of 20 is 2.99 or often they're on 2 for 3.99. They're fab - feel a lot more energetic using them!
As a Yank expat, I first discovered Berocca whilst living/working in New Zealand - Took it once a day, and worked wonders for day to day use, and the occasional day after a rough night on the town :) That was back in 2005-2009... When I returned to the States, of course I couldn't find it anywhere, and was just not cost-effective to order in from out of the country - so basically forgot about it... Well, this year (2012) I saw that Bayer Pharmaceuticals is now selling it direct / mail-order in the USA, and so I order 4 tubes - of which I just received a few days ago... Very chuffed to have it so fast, and back into my daily regiment - Feel loads better (like I did in NZ) and was initially pretty thrilled that I'd managed to locate it again in America. But this time around - something is drastically different - I'm on a low-carb diet ... and already know that I don't do very well with Phenylalanine - (lose stools, if not straight out diarrhea) - so was dissapointed to see this as an ingredient (may have always been there - but Splenda is the new sweetner of choice these days) - But I'll digress... Beyond the 'orange urine' - I then noticed a green stool 2 days in...!! and I do mean green green, pine tree green - which is unprocessed bile of course - and scary... I suspect the low carb diet is causing food to pass thru faster... but the mix of vitamins and minerals have created/caused an all out attack on my liver of sorts... and today, it's tender and swollen.... so needless to say, that is it for now, for me, and Berocca :( I'll also have to add carbs back in, to see if things with my liver get back to norm... I feel like I've been punch in the gut... and a bit worried to be honest. The second I stopped Berocca and added roughage and carbs back into my diet - my stools went back to norm, so that's half the battle (and points to a direct "cause and effect" between the 2) - I've done low-carb dozens of times before, with no issue - so I know that too is OK ... It's the Berocca that is the odd one out here... Anyway - Will miss my old friend - and not sure what to do with the 3 tubes and "membership" I had to purchase.... but one thing at a time aye... Otherwise, it was brilliant stuff - Wondering if Bayer tweaked with the recipe for the USA markets vs. UK/NZ ones? Cheers, BB
I am a big fan of berocca tablets and definitely recommend them. I suffer from mouth ulcers when I'm run down and often have a couple of days when I can feel they are about to fully develop. The past couple of times I've felt they're about to develop, I've taken a berocca for a couple of days which has prevented them from appearing. I also use them if I can feel a cold brewing and again I find that they prevent my cold from completely establishing itself. I also find that they increase my ablity to concentrate for long periods of time. Of course, this may be a placebo effect but it's very helpful if you have a busy day ahead of you! On the downside the capsules are very large and quite difficult to swallow. I have tried the dilutable capsules but I'm not keen on the taste so prefer the capsule form. Berocca is also expensive, about £10 for 30 capsules. Best to buy them when they're on offer or at Boots with their 3 for 2 deal of vitamins! Still, they're worth the price if they help you to keep feeling healthy.
A friend of mine absolutely swears by Berroca, I put more trust in his word than I should really, he's a geneticist in a big research company but dodgy as hell in so many ways. So when my mam offered me her hardly touched pack of Berroca; mainly because I was whining yet again that I was pooped and washed out, I leapt at the chance to give them a shot. Berocca are a multivitamin tablet which claim to reduce stress, give you an energy boost, improve mental acuity and reduce tiredness by giving your system a massive jolt of B vitamins, zinc, magnesium, calcium and other vitamins and minerals. Berocca are available as tablets which you can make into a an effervescent drink , or a 'boost' type, but my pack is the standard 'super' dose of vitamins. It contains (when full) 30 massive lozenge shaped tablets which you take with water. I managed to get them down, but there's no way my youngest would have been able to, even cut in half; she struggles with paracetamol caplets. So if you have trouble taking tablets I would definitely go for the soluble type. I didn't notice a particularly strong taste with these tablets, pretty similar to most multivitamins. They were easy to remove from the blister packs so no issues with packaging. It is recommended that you take one of these in a day, they can be taken as one off doses of a day or more at a time, or as a regular daily supplement. I decided as I was feeling particularly rough that I was going to take the remaining tablets as a 'course', there was about two weeks worth of tablets left in the box. They are quite expensive at £7.97 at the time of writing for 30 at Tesco so sadly I don't think they will ever be a regular purchase simply because of the price. . The Berocca website gives a lot of useful information, including the ingredients in Berocca, what it is meant to achieve and details of double blind clinical trials which seem to prove that Berocca can achieve it's remit in aiding and improving and maintaining mental sharpness, and lessening the affects of stress and tiredness on the body (http://www.berocca.co.za/ ) The blurb says that you should take as early in the day as possible to benefit from the boost right from the start of your day. This I did, despite being a cynic I felt a little tingle of excitement and hoped to be firing on all cylinders by lunch time. By lunchtime my pee had turned an alarming shade of literally fluorescent yellow, the colour a child might pick to represent the sun. I realised that this must be the tablet at work, or rather the tablet being flushed down the toilet. This colour was for me evidence that a large proportion of the ingredients in the tablet weren't being absorbed by my body, but I also realised that this was overflow, and that surely I must have absorbed some of the vitamins my body taking what it needed, which perhaps wasn't as much as I thought it did.. However as the week progressed I noticed that my urine became progressively less alarmingly yellow. I wonder but have no proof if my body was kind shocked by the first influx of actual real honest to goodness vitamins and waved it on through, but as the week went on my body started to absorb and utilise the nutrients. This is complete conjecture of course. Did I notice an energy boost akin to a can of Red Bull. Well never having drunk Red Bull or any other energy drink I can't really compare. I did feel more on the ball and on top of things though. I also noticed that I wasn't getting such a marked mid afternoon slump where I could if given the chance happily troddle off to bed for a few hours. Instead I was able to continue working (or whatever else I happened to be doing at that moment) without slurry sleepy cocky up syndrome kicking in. These effects could have been a placebo, but I like to think that my body and subconscious aren't that easily fooled (I'm sure they are in reality of course). I didn't test these tablets on a hangover as even when I do drink (which is an awful lot less than I'd like, probably only a few times a year) I don't tend to get hangovers. I was though extremely tired, run down, and my thinking was rather foggy. While taking these I regained a bit more of a semblance of my old self, genuinely felt less stressed and was able to take all the knocks coming at us more in my stride. Some people see this as an expensive way to get pretty coloured wee, personally I believe that though we clearly expel the excess this product does give the system a boost, which is longer lasting and more 'steady' than the quick burst of energy a sweet drink or similar can give. I'd recommend them even if you only try them once, I'm sure they don't work in the same way for everyone, I found them a gentle aid, my dodgy mate Ken reckons they are rocket fuel. I will buy them again but can't afford them as a regular purchase. Vitamin tablets aren't a substitute for a healthy diet, these are also not a substitute for a visit to your G.P. If you are feeling exhausted all the time, and so washed out that you can't cope for no apparent reason it could be because of several issues, so would be worth getting checked out.
I am a total Red Bull addict at the moment and I usually drink a couple of cans a day to keep me awake (I get up a lot through the night with my Baby son) but I know how bad Red Bull is for you, especially with the amount of Caffeine and Taurine it contains. So I decided I needed to look for a Healthier option to give me more Energy and when I was in Boots one of the ladies behind the counter reccomended Berocca to me. I must admit I wasn't overly keen to part with my beloved Red Bull as I love the taste of it as well as the effect it has, but I knew I had to bite the bullet. Berocca is described as containing Vitamins and Minerals in a tablet Supplement which help your body release Energy from food as well as support the Immune system. Well a product that will keep me awake, give me more energy AND be beneficial to my health sounded Genius. More specifically, the Vitamins it contains are Vitamin B Complex & Vitamin C and the Minerals it contains are Magnesium and Zinc. A 15 Pack of the tablets cost £4 and a £30 Pack cost £9 so I don't think it's cheap, but from its description it sounded like it would be worth the money. As directed I took 1 tablet (which didn't taste too nice) and I waited for the effects to kick in, I was very hopeful since I hadn't had my usual can of Red Bull and I was feeling very tired so was pretty much relying on the Berocca to work. But an hour later I couldn't keep my eyes open, it felt as though it has no effect whatsoever. It could be because my body is now so used to Red Bull and its High Caffeine content that the Healthy Berocca option just wasn't working for me, but either way it was hopeless. I tried it for a couple of days but in the end I had to go back to my usual Red Bull as I was struggling to get through the day. Basically for me these were a waste of time and money, certainly don't expect them to have the same effect as products like Coffee and Red Bull. If you are used to these types of things then like me, Berocca will probably have no effect in comparison.
Lets face it with the hectic lifestyle of today we can all get a little tired. I have been on a diet and was feeling very tired. my stepson recommended Berocca to me. I must admit I was doubtful, because I have tried so many vitamins in the past. I am also diabetic which makes me tired I have days when I feel exhausted and I can do no housework or cooking I just want to rest. Berocca is loaded with vitamin B I was amazed when I took one, I was bouncing with energy My housework got done in no time and it felt wonderful to be still left with loads of energy. I was a little worried about wether I would sleep on the nightime. I slept well with no problems I woke up alert and fresh ready to take my next berocca! I couldn't wait for the energy boost it felt great not to be so tired I would certainly advocate this product its for everyone I would certainly recommend it to mothers with young children older people and people who do a lot of sports. Berocca is now on my regular shopping list I found no problems at all with this product.
A few months ago I started getting cracks at the side of my lips. I did some internet searching and diagnosed myself with a vitamin B12 deficiency. I decided to have a look for a multi vitamin which contained this,6 and a recent advertising campaign about Berocca led me in their direction. Even though they sound like a verucca remedy, they are actually a multi vitamin combination in a dissolvable tablet. They are made by the Pharma company bayer. The tablets are marketed as a drink you can have in the morning which will set you up for the whole day. A quick look at the list of ingredients shows it contains over the RDA of vitamin C, Thiamin, Riboflavin, Niacin, Vitamin B6, Folacin, Vitamin B12, and Pantothenic acid. All these are water soluble vitamins so it is OK to have over the RDA, without over dosing. It also has Biotin, Calcium, Magnesium and Zinc. A tube of tablets costs £4.39 for 15 tablets (from Boots), so a cost of around £10 per month. The tablets are held inside a plastic tube in some foil. They are about the size of a two pence piece but thicker. You drop them into a glass of water and it dissolves quite quickly to give an orange ocloured drink, which looks a bit more like orange-ade that orange juice. The dirnk is meant to taset orangey, which it does to a certain extent, but also tastes very artificial. Although it appears watery the consistency is completely even and at the bottom of the glass there is a darker layer of undissolved material. This puts me off a bit, but you just have to put it out of your mind and down it! After a week or so of taking the drink my lips cleared up and I did feel better for taking the vitamins. Once the pack ran out though, I just replaced it with tesco multivitamins as it was easier for me just to carry a pack of tablets around in my handbag and take one at my convenience. For those who don't like tablets, or they upset your stomach I would definitely recommend Berocca.
The Vitamin B complex and other essential vitamins and minerals in Berocca work together to help you face the pace of a hectic, modern lifestyle by keeping your mind clear so that your body can get on with the task of living
