Boots Epsom Salts B.P
When it comes to the subject of Epsom Slats, up until recently I knew nothing at all about them. They are not something I remember seeing growing up in my household and we never seemed to cross paths, well up until a few weeks ago when my best mates mum June was telling me to give them a go as they are a fabulous all rounder of a product....and you know what she was right and I love Epsom Salts now!
I always buy my Epsom Salts from Boots as they're cheap at only £1.25 for a 200g tub of product but also I have a Boots Advantage Card and like getting points for my purchases too (every little helps right lol)! Though a word to the wise here as these are cheap they seem to fly off the shelves so if you like them I'd advise you to grab a couple of tubs a time and keep a small stash cos next time you go they probably won't be there and you'll be waiting on them coming back into stock. For some reason these ones are ever so popular....must be the price of them eh!
The packaging of these isn't fancy and its a rather medical looking tub really. Its white plastic with grey and green writing on it and it has a pull on/off lid to the top of it. On the front of the tub we are told that they are Boots Pharmaceuticals Epsom Salts B.P 'Magnesium Sulphate' and that they relieve occasional constipation and the size is stated (as I have listed already). On the back of the tub other information listed includes dosage advice on how to relieve constipation, warnings are given, ingredients are listed (100% magnesium sulphate) and contact details for Boots are given. At first glance you'd think these could only be used for the relief of constipation as the labelling on these only gives us directions for that which is a shame as they actually have so many uses so I have a slight quibble with that!
I use them ever such alot for such a variety of things and am a huge fan of the mighty Epsom Salts now and I actually have about 5 tubs in my flat on the go at the moment!
So what can they be used for? Well of course you can place a teaspoon in warm water and take it once a day to help naturally relieve constipation. The white salty looking mixture melts into the water rather well and ok it isn't the nicest tasting concoction in the world however it doesn't taste salty to me just a bit bitter and it isn't horrific to take and it does gently and effectively work in a none rush to toilet, move out of the way....way thankfully!
This is fabulous to bath in and for that you simpy need a couple of cups or handfuls of the stuff thrown under running water. Its none scented, great to use with a few drops of essential oil (I often use lavender oil with this to chill me out of an evening) and it is meant to it draws toxins from the body, sedate the nervous system, reduce swelling and relax muscles which I have to say it does for me. Recently I got a bruised arm it helped with that too at cleaning out the dirty looking bit and it seemed to induce the swelling out of it quickly too. I love bathing in this as not only do I feel that it helps with my bad back as it contains magnesium but my skin feels really soft and none aggitated after bathing in it.
You can use this as well by applying a little to a splinter to help draw it out (It does as I used this on my mate the other day) and I cleanly and easily got the splinter out to which she was mighty greatful for!
You can use 1/2 cup (handful of this) to a basin of warm water and soak your feet in it. It helps neutralise bad smells, you can even use this as exfoliator on your feet or any where on your body with warm water to help rid yourself of dry skin. I use a little of this with peppermint oil on tired, aching feet and use it with no oils on my elbows and knees and it leaves my skin looking so refreshed and clean and it really doesn't feel scratchy or too abrasive in use either.
You can add this to your wash off cleanser which I do in the bath by simply mixing in a little of it with my gentle face wash and you can rub your face with it for extra help cleaning yout toxins all by itself too. I have heard people have also added it to facial masks and made their own up by adding some of this to it. It really is simply a brilliant and versatile product.
Thanks to this I get relaxing baths that soothe my mind and my aches and pains. I don't really like the taste of it but I will take it for mild constipatiion if need be. I love using it on my skin as its easy to use and really effective at keeping it looking and feeling healthy and now...well I can't imagine not using this stuff! It's really great for bathing in and I highly recommend it to anyone because you can add oils to it safely and its kinder and more gentle to do so than adding oils to fragranced bath products!
All in all a really fab product and so worth the money its unreal!
Available only in Boots or from Boots.com and only available in one size at £1.25 (200g)
Summary: Brill stuff every one should have a tub of!
