I have been using Forever Living products for a while now. As i'm already self employed I didn’t necessary want to run it as a business, although I know plenty of people who do. I was more interested in the health benefits I’d heard about drinking aloe vera juice.
I didn’t like the original aloe vera drinking gel (bright yellow), which tasted very bitter but did make a difference to my Irritable Bowel (IBS), which I’d suffered with for a few years. It also had the added benefit of making my skin clearer. After around 3 months of drinking the gel, which is 99% pure aloe vera juice I had a lot of comments from friends on my complexion! My skin was quite good before but my friends said it looked more luminous and glowing.
I’ve since graduated to the aloe vera berry drink, which has a delicious flavour and contains apple and cranberry juice. It’s very good for any female urinary problems eg Cystitis, as well as containing all the good things the original juice has. I would genuinely recommend the drinks as they have all but cleared up my IBS. Some people think Forever Living products are quite expensive, particularly the drinks, however, If you become a distributor you can buy the drink at a cheaper wholesale price of around
First lets start by saying I drink this gel daily and have done for a month now and I still hate it. This costs just over £20 from the internet or from your Forever living representative. It is 1 litre of the stuff and looks just like above. Plastic container and you can open it and keep it in your cupboards for up to 30 days or a few months if you pop it in your fridge which I find is better.
The gel is from the aloe leaf and is the pure gel found which is different from that you can buy in many shops. It aids in helping your immune system, detoxifying your body and can help skin conditions.
My reason for drinking the gel was to detoxify my body so every day you are supposed to drink 2-4 fluid ounces of the gel. Now my advice is do not smell the liquid it does not smell nice, kind of medicinal and then when you pour it you wil notice that it is not like a drink.
It is thick gel. Sure it goes down easy enough but there are bits in it and if you are a bit squeamish like me you may have trouble so I pinch my nose and drink it down. You can put a little apple juice into it which does make it taste a bit better.
Now my personal experience is that it helped. I have found my sleeping to be better, my skn to feel better and I do feel like I have more energy. Now the only thing in my life that has changed is the gel. I know of a few people it has helped so I wold recommend it but just don't expect it to taste nice. After all it is supposed to be good for you so it was never going to taste nice, lol.
I came across the Forever Living range of products when my friend told me she had become a rep. I had already been drinking an aloe vera juice drink from Holland and Barratt which had been very soothing on my tummy, so I was interested to see how this version compared.
I got my gel as part of a detox kit, but you can also buy it individually from a rep or from amazon and a bottle is between £18-20 for a litre. This seems a lot but the product is much better quality than the Holland and Barratt version in my opinion as it is 100% pure aloe vera juice, and it is much more effective in my opinion.
The bottle can be stored in a cupboard till its open, but in my experience it is much better to store in a fridge once opened as it keeps better and is more palatable when served cold.
Firstly, I know a lot of people find this a very difficult thing to drink. I belonged to a facebook group for a while of people who were completing the forever living detox. A lot of the conversation was about how to drink this without being or feeling ill. I must be a little odd because I didn't find the taste that bad. It is quite a citrus based taste, almost like if you drank the juice of a whole lemon in a cup of hot water.
The juice is quite thick, and although it is a slightly tinged transparent liquid, there are specks of solid particles floating around in the juice. If you want to imagine the texture - it is just like the juice you can squeeze out of an aloe vera plant in your home. (I am saying it is thick in comparison to other brands I have tried. )
If you are taking this for general health, the dose is 60ml. When I was doing the detox I was having 120ml a few times a day. I found it quite easy to drink this in one go, and it was much better to do so before food and follow it with a glass of water.
I have a lot of digestive issues where I can get quite constipated. I find that this really does help keep the food moving along my gut, and I also look less bloated when this is a regular part of my diet. The thing that puts me off a bit is the high price, so I don't feel I can spend quite so much on something for myself on an everyday basis. I do take it now and again when money allows or my digestion is going through a rough patch.
Overall, I think it is certainly kind to my insides. It really seems to speed up my digestion when taking this daily in a natural way. I'm very aware the taste is awful to some, but I think it is ok. It doesn't leave any nasty taste after drinking it either. I am happy to use it occasionally, but its a luxury item for me.
I have been drinking Aloe Vera Gel for a few years. Initially as I was suffering from eczema which had suddenly erupted on my hands. My partner ordered me some Forever Living Aloe Gel as he had used it himself.
I have to admit it tasted disgusting at first, I describe it as Grapefruit that's gone off, and I drank it standing next to the sink with the tap running BUT now I drink it normally.
My eczema vanished, totally. My skin felt better and I noticed my digestive system was more active and my energy levels rose. My bowel movements were more regular so I never have that bloated sluggish feeling after I eat.
It's not a cheap product costing over £20 for a litre but I believe if a product works well for you health wise then it's worth the price you pay.
I personally would never buy the product other than from the main supplier or their distributors but you can find it cheaper if you shop around.
All I'd finally say is if you do purchase don't give up on it. You WILL get used to the taste and you can mix it with fresh juice if you like.
I came across this gel drink as my mum somehow always finds these weird and diverse network marketing and decided to become enthralled in this forever living products business. The way she sold it to me was that this gel is good for cleansing the digestive system, and so with the new year looming, I decided for 2012 to begin with a healthy regime and begin a detox program.
I drank this aloe vera gel and took it as part of a detox program which lasted for 9 days. The first 2 days I drank 4oz of this gel three times a day and the aloe vera shake together with the supplements. I actually managed to last the first 2 days without eating anything and only these products (hoorah for me!).
On the 3rd day I reduced my intake to 4oz only twice a day, still consuming the bee pollen and the vanilla forever living shake (other products sold in this range) and having a large dinner in the evening as a meal. I did this for the remainder of the detox. Surprisingly I found I had more energy, I didn't feel sluggish in the mornings (even though I would still feel sluggish after a good night's sleep usually) and I was much more alert, helpful when you have a hyperactive 2 year old! In the digestive sense I did find it made my stool a lighter colour and more solid coinciding with me having a lot more regular bowel movements.
Apparently the 3 reasons to drink aloe are:
1. more energy
2. cleanse digestive system
3. builds up immune system
In a sense it is a good product but the downside is this : it tastes HORRIBLE! I stuck it out over the 9 days by sheer willpower and my mum keeps convincing me that you get used to it after a while but I never did! It did also make my face a lot clearer, not that I suffer from a lot of spots but in general, feeling alert and rejuvenated did have a positive affect on my appearance.
This drink can be bought for £20 from any forever living distributor 1 litre. comes in 4 flavours, this is the pure aloe gel, but the other flavours are forever freedom (orange), berry nectar (cranberry and apple), and bits and peaches (apparently a favourite among children!) If I was to continue using this product, I would definitely try one of the drinks with a fruity flavour!
A few months ago I was at a friend's house for a birthday 'bash' when I got talking to a woman who was a mutual friend. I asked what she did for a living and she told me she worked for herself and promoted and sold 'Forever' products which consist of health drinks, vitamins and natural products which I must admit I was interested in.
She told me to call in her house next time I was in the area and she would find some freebies for me to try and leaflets with relevant information about the products.
Fine by me I thought; I love a freebie!
Now I'm not one for being talked into buying things unnecessarily by pushy sales reps as a rule, but having perused the booklet she gave me I spotted the Aloe Vera Gel drink. She did say she would give me two free if I bought one at cost price so I must admit I was lured in to trying it..
Who are 'Forever'?~
The company is based in Warwick and was founded back in 1978 and operates in over 100 countries worldwide. I was quite surprised to learn this as to be totally honest I'd never heard of them nor their products before.
Forever is apparently the largest grower, manufacturer and distributer of aloe vera (and bee) products and claim the secret to their success is by using 100% pure aloe vera and by not watering it down in anyway.
This review is about the pure 'Aloe Vera Gel' drink but there is also available in the same range:
*Forever Freedom (£27.61)
*Aloe Berry Nectar (£20.22)
*Forever Aloe Bits 'n' Peaches (£22.03)
These all aim to improve the digestive system but have different nutrients added for that extra 'well being' feeling. As you can see by the prices they don't come cheap!
My Aloe Vera Gel~
As mentioned I opted for the regular old aloe vera gel drink which comes housed in a honey coloured plastic container not unlike a small milk carton. There is an easy to grasp cut out section which acts as a handle and to access the drink there is an easy to open/close screw top lid (again similar to a milk carton).
This comes in one size to buy which is a 1 litre and contains approximately one months supply of the good stuff. There is minimal fuss about the whole appearance of the packaging to reflect the 'pureness' of the product though on the back there is a listing of ingredients used.
Now I don't normally quote ingredients in reviews but I will just say it contains Sorbitol, Ascorbic acid, Citric acid, Potassium sorbate, Sodium benzoate, Xanthan gum, Tocopherol along with the Aloe Vera itself.
According to the blurb the added ingredients are the minimum needed to preserve the natural aloe vera and are necessary to prolonging it's existence.
This is just as expensive as the other aloe drinks and a 1 litre container will set you back the princely sum of £20.22. It can be ordered via a Forever rep or for more information try logging on to their website @www.foreverliving.com/uk-direct.
My experience of taking aloe vera gel~
The gel as mentioned comes in the form of a drink and to access it you simply remove the lid - there is no inner foil to keep it fresh but by giving the lid an extra tighten this seems to do the job.
After shaking vigorously for a few seconds I proceeded to pour out the required amount which is 60 ml's - I received a small measuring cup with my containers from the 'mutual friend rep' though whether one comes as standard I cannot comment on so it's advisable you have something adequate for measuring it out.
The actual gel is of a very thick consistency and doesn't so much as pour out but blobs out in a very messy fashion. It is a clear liquid yet because of the actual pieces of aloe vera used in it it also gives the gel a slight cloudy appearance at the same time. The gel has an odd aroma to it and I couldn't quite pinpoint it until recently when I realised it actually has a strong an anesthetic scent (they do actually say aloe vera is natures own anesthetic - apparently). When I say this what would describe it more would be to liken it to a TCP with a lemon tinge to it - not the most appealing fragrance I have to admit but strangely enough it's smell convinced me it would do me good.
The taste is exactly like the smell and as soon as you put the drink near to your lips there is an overpowering anesthetic scent that made me wonder why the heck I was about to drink it. On finally attempting to sip at it I found the texture to be slippy and greasy whilst the taste can only be described as really quite putrid.
The sipping it was a big mistake and vowed if I was going to take this on a regular basis that I would have to be brave and down it one!
The following days I followed a strict regime of taking it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach (the rep advised this) quickly followed by a cup of tea to wash away any remnants and take the lingering after taste away.
I have to say that the longer period of time you take this for the more your taste buds adapt to the taste. I wouldn't say it's putrid now but I have gotten used to the flavour and no longer wince when I drink it.
The rep offered me two full litre bottles if I bought one of off her at cost price which worked out at £12 so I did go ahead with this and buy one as I thought 3 months supply equating at £4 each seemed reasonable to test it out.
I have stuck to a rigid regime of taking this everyday now for 2 and 1/2 months so what do I think?
The rep promised this would be good for my whole well being and would help guard against all sorts of problems like helping to ward off colds/ sore throats, clearing up any spots/blemishes all whilst keeping my digestive system in check at the same time.
I was tempted to try it for keeping the sore throats at bay alone as I do suffer a lot with bad throats so if this helped where other things had failed then woo hoo!!
After taking it for one month I found my skin looked healthier and had a glow to it - something that I had only experienced whilst being pregnant with my first son. I get a lot of lumps and bumps on my chin which despite medication on and off over the years had never fully gone but they seemed to diminish after this time and have now since disappeared completely.
I started to get the first inklings of a sore throat last week which normally would have turned into the mother of all throats as they nearly always do. I found that despite the off putting taste of the gel when I swallowed it I could really taste the anesthetic coating my throat and luckily for me it seemed to kill off any germs as my throat didn't worsen but improved.
I can't really comment on the effects it has had on my digestive system as I have luckily never had any problems there in the past but I'm sure it's been doing it good judging by the effects on the outside.
Any side effects?~
I was warned that because it contains sorbitol it may have a laxative effect but as the sorbitol used is corn based it shouldn't be too bad. Oh great! Luckily sorbitol doesn't effect me that way but too much can cause nausea and for the first two weeks after taking the gel I did feel slightly sick but it soon disappeared.
I have a form of diabetes and it hasn't interfered in anyway with my blood sugar levels so it is safe for me to take (mine is a rare form though and isn't type 1 or 2 so if you have either and are planning on taking this then I would recommend you check first with a doctor/nurse etc) though I am not endorsing it as a medication.
Would I recommend it?~
Well, Yes and No.
Yes because it has so much positive aspects to it and I have felt genuinely better in myself which I am relieved about as I did wonder if it was just a placebo but it really doesn't seem to be.
My skin has looked better than it has in a few years and has felt softer too and I have only had the briefest encounter with a sore throat once in all the time I have been taking it which soon scarpered when threatened with the power of aloe vera gel.
*It's worth mentioning as well that the shelf life on these containers is pretty impressive as all 3 of mine had a 2 year date from when I was given them (which were brand new) though once opened it does have to be stored in a fridge though there is no mention of how long it keeps once opened - I think it's presumed that it will be taken everyday for the full month.
No because as much as I will whole heartedly recommend this product for health purposes I really cannot afford to spend that amount every few weeks on a health aide no matter how good I have felt. If our circumstances changed and we had a lot more free cash every month then I wouldn't hesitate to buy this regularly but I simply cannot justify spending that amount every month. I do wish they would supply it in different sized containers as I would be far more likely to buy it then on a much more regular basis.
For that reason alone I will have to deduct a star.
Aloe Vera gel has tremendous health benefits. It helps in food digestion by providing the body proper balance of stomach acids. The main acid is Hydrochloric acid found in Aloe vera gel or Aloe Vera tablets. The Aloe green leaf juice is a good carrier of food nutrients and helps in food digestion. It is important that Aloe vera juice is taken before the meals, twice daily, and food chewed properly about 10-12 chew per bite.
As Aloe Vera is a very good deoxidiser, the gel does not allow blood to oxidise and form flakes, so it helps to control cholesterol, because cholesterol in the oxidised form only blocks the blood vessels. Secondly Aloe vera concentrate juice helps in growth and expansion of blood vessels, so scientifically also Aloe vera gel is beneficial for heart patients and can also be taken as a preventive mediceine against heart disorders and control of cholesterol.
Aloe Vera gel helps in easy bowel movement and provides colon cleansing. Thus eliminating constipation, laziness and even avoids colon cancer. But do take some fibrous vegetables like carrot, cabbage etc while taking Aloe vera green leaf juice.
The Aloe Vera gel as a product is full of vitamins (B series, C), Calcium, copper, Iron and other minerals. It gives us relief from joint pains and Vitamin C in Aloe Vera gel tightens the skin and helps to keep it fresh and shiny. Take sufficient quantity of water about 3 Litres per day while taking Aloe Vera gel so as to remove the body toxins and get the full benefits of the Aloe Vera.
Aloe vera gel also helps to fight the body virals and stabilise our immune system. If take regularly, you will find increase in energy level and less fatigue and ailments.
Aloe vera gel is very beneficial for diabetic patients as it strengthens and support the pancreas to produce the proper level of insulin and utilise blood sugar and remove the unutilised blood sugar. So Sugar patients may please try Aloe Vera juice and see how much relief you get in a few days.
A proper exercise(Daily walk about half an hour), Yoga, meditation etc will further add to the benefits of Aloe Vera gel as it provides the desired oxygen to the body and thus helps in maintaining blood circulation thus impating energy and freshness to our body.
I have to admit that before trying this product I hadn't known that you could drink Aloe Vera. I read the literature about the benefits of this drink and heard people talking about the remarkable effects it had had, but I wan't really convinced. The thing that swung it for me was the 60-day money back guarantee that the company provide.
I had been warned about the taste and even tried a bit before buying. It's pretty awful to start with, but I found my tastebuds getting used to it over time, and now I'm happy to drink it.
I guess the fact that I'm still drinking it over a year after first trying it shows that I'm finding a benefit. It's hard to pin-point exactly, but I have less colds and those I do get are quickly overcome. I also have more energy (always useful when playing with the kids).
In fact the whole family now use this product (or one of the other flavours). I can't remember when our kids were last off school due to an illness, and it really helped get rid of my daughter's eczema.
Another tip - we use it for the kids (and ourselves) instead of painkillers for headaches, etc. If I get a sore throat I gargle with it!
