      Disadvantages

A great essential oil that is very versatile

I recently discovered a little bottle of this Lanes Tea Tree Oil in my bathroom cabinet that I had forgotten all about. When my daughter was in nappies, I mostly used reusable nappies and therefore frequently bought tea tree oil to add to the nappy bucket to tackle smells and also due to its anti bacterial qualities it helps sanitise the nappies. This little bottle was left over since my daughter was toilet trained in the summer. Rather than chuck it out, I thought I search online for other ideas for what it could be used for.

This Lanes Tea Tree Oil isn't cheap, however, there is a discount chemist near my house which was selling this little bottle for £1.50 which I thought was reasonable given I have seen it in other chemists for around £3- £4. On the front of the box, it states that this tea tree oil is 100% pure and is 'nature's antiseptic' and it certainly can be used as an antiseptic to clean up wounds, so it could also be popped into your handbag to carry with you for little emergencies.

Tea Tree Oil is considered an essential oil and originates in Australia. IT has a very strong recognisable smell that is clean and clinical like. I always found when I added a few drops of this tea tree oil to my nappy bucket, the smell definitely helped eradicate the odours and therefore I was able to wash reusable nappies every other day without any stench developing, and also the fact that there was a few drops added to the bottom of the nappy bucket, meant I felt the anti bacterial element of this oil was working on the dirty nappies that lay in the bucket.

As I mentioned when I had this tea tree oil left over I started to research other uses, of which I found quite a lot. Tea Tree Oil is toxic to take, but I have used this oil to help with my dry scalp, which if I don't watch and take care of quickly, dandruff can take appear. I have added a couple of drops of this oil to my shampoo and I have felt that it has helped keep my hair clean and dandruff free (although I also use an anti dandruff shampoo frequently as well). THe other use I have found with this is for spots. Recently I have had little outbreaks of spots and have applied a drop or two or little oil onto a cotton bud and dabbed the spot and I do feel it helps reduce the redness and act to clear my skin.

I'm not entirely sure how long you should keep essential oils for however, I don't like wastage and I wanted to use this tea tree oil up. I felt that it helped with the dryness on my scalp and also dabbing it onto blemishes on my skin, and I certainly would purchase it again for using in nappy buckets if I had another child in the future.

I have been very happy with this particular tea tree oil. I think it is costly, but you probably can pick it up cheaper if you hunt around, and for what I paid, despite it being a small bottle, it does last quite a while, given the small amounts you are using at any given time. It is an effective essential oil to keep in your bathroom cabinet and this particular brand is a good one to try.

      A great natural antiseptic

I purchase this brand of tea tree oil a few weeks back when my son was diagnosed with a vital skin condition which can stay in his body for up to 2 years. It consisted of small spots which became itchy and when he scratched they would spread. The doctor couldn't provide any treatment. We were told to leave the virus run it's course. It appeared to get worse and he was getting upset so i decided to look into herbal remedies. I came across this tea tree oil amd many people saying positive things onnthe effect it has on this particular virus. I paid about £5 for a small bottle. Its quite small but lasts for ages. It has a strong smell and is described as an antiseptic. We applied the oil to my sons spots using a cotton bud and within a few days saw a huge improvement. Within a week they had all dried up and then a week later they had completely gone. I have since been using it on spots on myself, sores and as a general antiseptic. I think its fab stuff and well worth the money that I paid. My son calls it his magic medicine :)

Great go out and buy it

I've always been skeptical about oil and remedies that you put on you but after a trip to australia I stumble upon this and wonder why everyone doesn't use it. The lotion is expensive and you can pick it up for around about 6 pounds which I do admit is pricy but it does seem to last forever so I think you should see it as an investment which you will never regret buying.

The lotion itself is a oil from a tree the australian tea tree which is proberbly the reason why us britsh people dont use it. I personally use it to clean out cuts just like antiseptic which is what its best at. The lotion instead of the usual of a synthetic smelling cream that wont work as well. The natural oil also smells amazing and the refreshing smell leaves you smelling great and healed.

As well as its antiseptic qualities it can also be great for treating skin conditions as it able to clean the pause of the skin. This will as a result reduce spot and skin condition meaning that its a multifunctioning product but I would ensure that you buy pure oil and not a cheaper oil that has been mixed with other oils if you are planning on using it for this.

In addition to using it as a face cleanser you can also use it to make up face masks, to clean wounds and even infuse onto bandages to ensure that infection does not spread. This lotion is simple a great addition to any cupboard and I think it would especially good with kids all the way from cut and bruises to acne problems which can be expensive.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

This is a brilliant 100% natural and pure product

In my quest to find find some great health products I stumbled across this Teatree oil, it comes from Australia and got its name from the fact that you can make tea from the leaves of the tree which this oil is made from. I found out about this product from right here on dooyoo, as a exceptional review was written about it and after reading this review I thought this is something that sounds great and I really wanted to give it a try.

This Teatree oil is a natural anti-septic and it was the Aborigines of Australia who first started using it, they would use it by rubbing it into wounds killing the bacteria thus preventing infection. This product comes in a small brown glass bottle and has a screw on lid, this is not only for wounds as it can be used to treat acne or other skin irritations you may be having, I have read that it can even be used to treat spots but lucky for me I don't tend to get spots so I can not verify whether this works or not.

This product can actually be used for many health reasons which is the reason that I wanted to give it a try, apparently mixing a few drops with yoghurt will create a natural and wonderful face mask. It can be used as a inhalant when you have a cold, or for mouth ulcers and boils or even to treat athletes foot, even mixing a little to your shampoo will help to treat dandruff.

My main reason for buying this item though was because I needed to treat my skin and was looking for the most natural way I could, by adding a couple of drops of this Lanes Tree Oil to my bath water I am naturally treating my skin and I can confirm that since I started using this my skin has dramatically improved which I am very happy about. You should not actually digest this oil as it will certainly give you a bad stomach, yet you can add a couple of drops to your toothpaste before using and this will help gum disease and mouth infections naturally.

If you are interested in using this oil then you might want to know that this oil does have a very strong and intense smell to it which does not smell great but this product is a natural healer and everybody I have heard talk about it speaks very highly of its healing power. This product is nature's natural anti-septic and is 100% natural and pure, also it is not tested on animals. It does come with a few a warnings, it is flammable and may cause lung damage if swallowed so you must be careful when using this product.

Overall I think this is a brilliant product and the fact it is 100% natural and pure really appeals to me, I have so far only used it in my bath to treat my skin and on a little cut my daughter got when playing in the garden, it worked great for both of these things. I bought my Tree oil from Amazon and it cost me a little over £5 which I thought was a great deal.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

A great natural antibacterial product from Australia

            Lanes 100% Teatree oil

As someone who lived in Australia for about fifteen years I was struggling to find teatree oil when I came back to the UK but now it is everywhere. Ther are many different brands but this is one of the cheaper ones and as it is 100% teatree oil it works just as well as more expensive branded versions. I can't see the point in spending money needlessly and so always check the generic stuff and compare what is in them before handing over my hard earned cash.

For many centuries the aborigine people of Australia have used the native plants and animals as medicine. It is only recently that this knowledge has been shared and accepted by the European colonisers and even more recently these things have travelled beyong the shores of Australia.

Tea tree comes from a native Australian tree or woody shrub of the melaleuca group and more specifically the melaleuca alternifolia . This was a plant that I grew in my garden in Brisbane and I loved the scent of the leaves when I crushed them in my hands.

It got its rather strange name from the fact that the British explorers saw the Aborigine using the leaves and they used they as a tea substitute as there were no tea bushes in Australia. It got its name from the fact that the leaves of this tree were used to make a tea.

Teatree oil is a natural anti septic and the Aborigines of Australia commonly crushed the leaves and applied them to open wounds to prevent infection. It is the terpenoids that kill the bacteria  and so applying tea tree oil will thus help prevent infection. The ability to kill bacteria makes a great product to help with acne ,and other skin and scalp irritations.

This Lanes brand comes in a small dark brown glass bottle like most essential oils and it has a screw top lid. Under the lid is a dropper top that means only small amounts are dispensed when you tip and shake the bottle. It is pretty much the same as many other brands of essential oil and as such I am happy to buy this brand.

WHAT CAN TEA TREE HELP WITH?

If you suffer from acne then using this diluted with water or any other product and applying it to your skin will help. I have actually applied it neat directly to spots using a cotton bud too. It does smell quite strong but it works overnight.

You can make a face cleanser mask by mixing a few drops of tea tree oil with half a cup of milk or yoghurt and add a little koalin. Apply this then leave for 10 to 15 minutes before rinsing off and toning with the dilute mix of tea tree oil and distilled water.

I use it when I have a cold as a decongestant and use it in an inhalant or put some on my pillow at night or a tissue during the day.

I also use this on cuts and grazes as a disinfectant. I also add it to water and wip surfaces as it smells clean and also disinfects surfaces naturally. You can make up a diluted mixture of the tea tree oil and water in an old spray bottle to use as a toner or to spray on surfaces.

It is great for helping with dandruff so add a few drops to your conditioner or shampoo. I also add a few drops into my bath when I have sore skin or if I have a cold as it combines with the steam to clear my nose and head.

It can be used for athletes foot and other fungal infections as a natural alternative if you get it in the early stages . You need to apply it neat to the nails or wherever the fungal infection is. This is not an instant cure and may take a few weeks so it depends on how desperate you are.

Tea tree oil can help to treat mouth ulcers, vaginitis, ringworms and boils. It can say it works on the mouth ulcers but not suffered from the other problems so cannot answer for how it works on those.
It is also safe to use on pets when dilute for skin conditions so it can be added to pet shampoos . It will also help keep ticks and fleas away in a more natural way than some of the commercial options. It is poisonous to animals so make sure you do use it dilute.

When I lived in Australia we used to wipe all our cupboard insides down with a mixture of tea tree and water to help get rid of cockroaches which I absolutely hated finding in my kitchen. Luckily we don't have that problem in this country.
Although you should never actually digest tea tree oil as it will give you an upset tummy, it can be used as a mouthwash to help with gum diseases and bad breath. You can add a few drops to water or add a drop to your toothpaste when cleaning your teeth.

            THINGS TO BE AWARE OF
Pregnant women and those breast feeding should not use tea tree oil .
If you have sensitive skin then dilute the oil with a carrier oil as it can cause rashes or sore skin when used neat.
Take care when using near your eyes or genitals as it can sting!

Do not take internally as it may cause "diarrhoea, vomiting, impaired immune function, excessive drowsiness, sleepiness, confusion, poor coordination, and even coma. If you notice any of these symptoms of overdose, seek medical attention immediately."

While tea tree is safe for most people and animals and helps in so many wonderful ways , if you find you have a reaction stop using it as some people do react adversely and it can make the condition you are trying to treat worse for some people.

            RECOMMENDED?
I always have a bottle of this in my medical drawer as it is such a brilliant all round solver of many medical problems as well as great for using to add to water for cleaning surfaces.

It smells quite strong but is not unpleasant;it smells a bit like most eucalyptus type inhalants and in my view is quite a pleasant and refreshing smell.

It feels quite cool a bit like when you use alcohol or minty stuff and I find the smell comforting when I have a cold.
This brand is no better or worse than many other pricier brands and it is pure 100% te tree oil so save a bit of money and try this brad ext time.

Thanks for reading. This review may be posted on other sites under my same user name.

Has many uses and works well

I have a vast collection of herbal remedies and essential oils that I use for a variety of different reasons and I find that Tea Tree Oil is one the oils that I will always have in my cupboard as it has a number of uses and always helps with what ever ailment I maybe treating. As with most essential oils, this should not be ingested and it is also not tested on animals.

The Lanes 100% Tea Tree comes packaged in a simple dark glass bottle that has a white plastic twist of cap that on first use has a security ring around it to ensure the product has not been tampered with in anyway; this is very easy to remove. The bottle is also contained with a cardboard box when you first purchase it. The Tea Tree oil comes in a 10ml bottle and can be widely purchased from stores such as Tesco for around £4.55, Amazon, more expensive at around £7.50 and a number of independent health stores, which is where is picked my up from for £5.25 (May 2013). The bottle has a small and easy to use dropper dispenser that lets you easily control the number of drops of the Tea Tree that you want to use at any given time; this also does not leak or clog.

Tea Tree oil has a very strong and distinctive smell, like pine, herbs and menthol.

Tea Tree essential oil has many beneficial uses and is considered to be an antiseptic oil that provides anti bacterial and anti fungal benefits. It is therefore useful in the treatment of things such as body odour; insect bites and also using the tea tree as a insect repellent, it is also good for dandruff and dry scalps, spots, insect bites and it can also be used to treat sinus problems, coughs and colds and, as it is so versatile you can use it as a cleaning product. It can also be mixed with carrier oils such as sweet almond oil in small quantities so you can then apply it to sensitive skin for treatments. My husband also uses tea tree oil on cold sores, by putting one drop on a cotton bud and dabbing it onto the cold sore, this helps to dry it out, prevent infection, as it in an antibacterial essential oil and will help remove the cold sore over a few days.
I tend to use the Tea Tree oil to help with my dry scalp, I add three to for drops of the oil to my normal shampoo and use a normal, I find this not only makes my scalp less dry but it also leaves my hair a little softer. In addition , I use the tea tree oil on the odd spot, simply by dabbing a drop onto the spot using a cotton bud, this, as with the cold sore method, dries up the spot and prevents infection.

I also sometimes burn a little of the oil in an oil burner when I have a cold or cough and I find that it will ease my congestion a little. A 10ml bottle tend to last me for a few months, though I probably use more of the oil in the winter time. I have use other tea tree oil brands and too be honest they all seem very similar, though, overall I would recommend this product to others as it works well, is natural, has a number of beneficial properties and, if you shop around you can get it at a reasonable price.
