Redoxon Effervescent Vitamin C Orange
Advantages: Easy to use, work well, give me energy, nice flavour.
Disadvantages: Hard to open packaging, slightly powdery taste left in my mouth.
I have a close friend who has some of the same medical problems as me. This means that we have a lot in common but also that we can talk about products we've used and things that have helped us stay fit and healthy. Recently she gave me these effervescent vitamin c orange tablets because she didn't like them and had decided that effervescent tablets weren't what she wanted to use to boost her vitamin c intake. As I often use effervescent tablets I gave her a couple of quid for them (despite her protests) and took them off her hands. After looking around online this appear to cost around the £5.50-£6.00 mark so she actually did me a favour letting me have them so cheap!
Redoxon contains Vitamin C and zinc to help maintain a healthy immune system as the vitamin c works with the white blood cells to help maintain your immune system and the zinc is require to help maintain healthy skin, which is the body's first line of defence. In a nutshell these little effervescent tablets contain a strong boost for your immune system providing you use them regularly and as directed on the packaging. One important thing that it does say on the packaging is that a standard supplement passes through your body within 4 hours whereas this effervescent tablet keeps on working for up to 8 hours so doubling the time it is in your body helping your immune system.
These tablets come within a cardboard box and it is nothing special although it is a little eye catching with its bright orange colours. The tablets come in a little plastic tube within the box which is just the size of the tablets so there is no excess packaging. There is a foil seal for freshness but mine had been opened already of course as my friend had tried these once. There is a plastic cap on the top that is incredibly tight so I do not have to worry about these tablets rolling out if I am taking them in my handbag to work, however, it is SO hard that I have to use a lot of force just to get it open and then risk them flying everywhere because I've jolted the tube so hard!
As these are effervescent tablets they begin to melt immediately if your hands are remotely damp so be sure that they aren't or you'll end up in a mess! Just remove a tablet and drop it in to a glass of water and it will begin to fizz and bubble before it completely dissolves and you're left with your drink to get down your throat right away! These tablets are advised to be used twice a day but I only ever use them once unless I am really run down and ill which is not often now. To be honest, I would find it very expensive to take 2 of these a day and spend over £10.00 a month just on effervescent vitamin c tablets and I have always felt that 1 is ample so I will likely continue with this too.
Flavour wise this really is quite nice for an effervescent drink. I like how quickly it dissolves and it doesn't make loads of mess when it's bubbling and fizzing up either. The flavour isn't too strong, I've had stronger, but it's not overpowering or sickly sweet either. I feel like I am ready for the day at work after I drink this and it doesn't feel too heavy when I drink it either which I have noticed in the past. There was a slight powdery feeling in my mouth after drinking this but nothing that wasn't easily resolved with some water afterwards. If I was leaving this longer then perhaps that wouldn't happy, however, I'm usually on a time limit in the morning before a meeting or a client visit.
In all I am going to give this 4/5. The slightly powdery taste/sensation in my mouth is not one that I enjoy and I could do without it first thing in the morning. The flavour is lighter than others I have tasted and isn't off-putting at all. I have no problem with drinking this everyday, even if I'm a bit under the water and my mouth is sensitive so that is a major plus point. Also, I do think that the price is a little expensive if you were to take two per day but as I only take one per day I would be happy enough to buy these again in the future. I do feel like effervescent vitamin c helps me stave off the colds and bugs as I am much less sickly this year than I was last year and that is one of the main vitamin related changes in my diet. I feel like I have more energy and more get up and go and that can't ever be a bad thing!
Summary: An easy to use effervescent Vitamin C that helps me feel fantastic!
