Tesco Multivitamins And Iron
by kat1234
With the rather extended spell of cold weather we have been enduring has come no end of colds in our house. We have really been struggling to shake off anything we pick up and therefore enduring coughs and colds that last for weeks on end. In order to help keep us as healthy as possible, we have been supplementing our diet with these ... Multivitamin and Iron tablets from Tesco.
The tablets come in a white plastic pot with blue labelling and a blue childproof lid - this needs to be pushed down and turned to open. They are available in pots of 30, 60 and 240 tablets. We opted for the larger pot of 240, which cost us £4.14. There is also a frequent offer in Tesco for vitamins to be buy 2 get one free, so it can be cost effective to take advantage of this.
Inside the jar are the tablets, which are a pale cream-brown colour and long and rounded in shape. They are quite big, in my opinion, and I need to take these with quite a bit of water. I definitely would not recommend these to anyone who struggles with swallowing tablets. Ypu need to take just one tablet a day, I usually take this with my evening meal.
The tablets are a 'balanced source of 12 essential vitamins at 100% of the recommended daily allowance'. They are also enriched with iron which is essential for maintaining healthy blood. The vitamins contained at 100% RDA are Vitamins A,C, D, E, B1, B2, B6 and B12. They also contain folic acid, biotin and pantothenic acid.
Aside from not being the easiest to take, they seem pretty good. It is always hard to determine if things like this are actually doing you any good or not but I do feel like they are doing some good. They are also pretty good value for money at a little over £4 for 240 tablets which will last you 240 days as you just need one a day - so roughly 2/3 of a years supply! I will knock off a star due to the sheer size of the tablet, but other than that I would say these are pretty decent! Read the complete review |

Tesco Cod Liver Oil
by HelenW
I've had problems with my knees since I was about 18. It's a family trait, but I don't think years of ballet and other dance have helped the problem! I've recently been doing zumba and experiencing pain in my knees. So, on the orders of my mum, I started taking cod liver oil tablets. I popped to Tesco and had a browse of the ... "supplements" aisle, which is new ground to me! I've never taken (or needed to take!) any form of supplement. I found the cod liver oil capsules... after grimacing at the mere thought of the liquid variety!
They come in a plastic pot with a child safety cap. The pot has changed design since the picture at the top and says "mobility" over the top, with a rather cute picture of some fish swimming underneath. I brought the larger pot that has 90 capsules in it. I purchased the 550mg capsules, although they are also available in 1000mg variety and with all sorts of combinations with other things like multivitamins, calcium etc.
I've been taking these for a few months now, and although I don't always remember to take one every day, I do think they have had a positive effect on my knees. They no longer click at work like they did, which is much less embarrassing! Also, when doing zumba, my knees don't have the same shooting pain that was happening before. Bearing in mind that I could never stand up too quickly, kneel down or any other variety of activity involving my knees, the improvement has been great. They no longer hurt like they used to, which is completely worth it.
The price of these is currently £2.01 for the pot which I purchase, which works out as 2 pence per capsule. I think this is a great price for what it does and how much it has really helped my life! I was expecting them to either smell or taste vile (or both!!) but in capsule form it's fine. You can't taste anything for the short time that it's in your mouth before gulping it down with water. I suspect that the liquid version would be another story altogether though!
Although I've been spouting the benefits on my knees, these capsules also have other benefits. They contain 100% of your recommended daily allowance of vitamin A and D. Vitamin A is important for the maintenance of normal vision and immune system and also skin. I'm hoping that by remembering to take them everyday, that my skin may clear up a bit! Vitamin D is necessary for normal tooth and bone maintenance as well as normal muscle function. So, very useful things indeed!
I would recommend these without a doubt. Great value and great effects. Read the complete review |

Tesco Cod Liver Oil

I'm going to review Tesco own brand cod liver oil capsules.
They come in plastic containers containing 30.....60.....or 90 and are often on special 3 for the price of 2 offer.
The price ranges from £1.30 for 30 ,to £3.80 for the 90 capsule bottle I last bought.
First why I bought ... them.
--------------------------
Well I'd run out of my usual brand(Seven Seas) and in Tesco the Seven Seas were out of stock ,so I thought I'd give the own brand a try.....simple as that really. And frankly I'm glad I did. They seem to be every bit as effective as the expensive ones. I've been using the own brand since around Christmas & can truthfully say there is no deterioration in my mobility from using the cheaper version, despite the atrocious weather we have had this winter.
I began using cod liver oil tablets two years ago after noticing my knees creaking after exercise. I thought best tackle it before it became a bigger problem and sure enough within a few weeks of starting them I found a benefit. Not life changing by any means, but just generally more limber.
They are one-a-day and each capsule contains Vit A--Vit D--Cod liver oil & fish body oil. So pretty basic really.
Pricewise.....well, with the difference between the price of these & the price of the named brand I can buy toothpaste & basic shower gel,so that makes me a happy bunny.
Would I recommend them? Yes. Read the complete review |
