Berocca Effervescent Tablets
by JoelM Berocca was something I picked up while at the pharmacist while picking up hay fever medicine, not a planned purchase in other words. I saw this and had seen the 'treadmill' ad and thought why not? It is an effervescent drink (the one I purchased you can also get vitamin tablets) It quickly turned out to be a great purchase, I ... now take this around every 2 days in the morning to get me ready for the day, rather than that zombie feeling I now feel energized from the start of the day. Ready for the day ahead. The flavors come in: Orange, Mixed Berries and Tropical. Orange seems to be the original and for my tastes the nicest one. Berroca contains a combinations of Group B vitamins and Vitamin C, 40mg of sodium and the vitamin tablets contain 217mg of sodium. It is manufactured by Bayer. It is sold in many different countries and has different advertising techniques for each it seems. You are advised to take one tablet a day (whether that be the vitamin tablets or the drink version) from 12 up. But now I have recently stopped taking them, for now. Not because they stopped working it is just when I need a boost and need to get up I take them, if I feel fine from the morning I see no need to take them. I was taking every 2 days for around a month but realized I did not need them that often. All in all I would recommend when you need a boost in the morning or if you are feeling low (illness or just generally, check with doctor before in case it would interfere with medicine) And at a price of £5.59 for 12 dissolving tablets I see it as a reasonable price. Asda High Strength Effervescent Vitamin C & Zinc
by northernlovely **Why Buy?** As a woman just reached 30 with a full time office job, a toddler and a home I am often busy and can feel a little 'de energised'. My dad takes Berocca, which is an effervescent vitamin C drink, and I wanted to see if I could get the same results from an own brand - the results being, a bit more ... 'pep'! **Price and Availability** Asda High Strength Effervescent Vitamin C & Zinc Tablets are exclusive to ASDA and available at ASDA.com (a P&P charge and minimum order value applies). They are currently priced at £1.60 for 20, so 8p each. A small daily price to pay for an energy boost, I thought, if they work! **Packaging** Very similar in packaging style to Berocca the brand leader, Asda High Strength Effervescent Vitamin C & Zinc Tablets come in a Steradent - like plastic tube. They are coloured more simply in orange and white, to reflect the flavour. **Use** It's very easy to use Asda High Strength Effervescent Vitamin C & Zinc Tablets, you simply take 1 tablet out (they are about the size of an extra strong mint but a bit thinner) and drop it into a glass of water where it will fizz and dissolve it's way into being a still orange drink (I find a stir helps). It tastes OK, plain-ish and a bit gritty but overall it's fine and it's only a quick morning drink with breakfast for me, not a sip and savour sort of drink. It colours the water a thin orange. **But.. does it work?** For me I have noticed that I feel a little less tired in the afternoons when drinking Asda High Strength Effervescent Vitamin C & Zinc Tablets. I don't get the dip I used to midday and it helps me get more done rather than vegging out with a cuppa and a biscuit for some energy. I do feel it helps me not snack on sugar as a way of getting through the day. **Recommend?** I do recommend Asda High Strength Effervescent Vitamin C & Zinc Tablets as for me I have felt a noticeable difference and I do think that for some a vitamin C boost is a most welcome and needed addition to the daily diet. I suggest if you're not feeling 100% see the doctor, always, but if you know you need to up the vitamins or maybe you've been using the brand leader I recommend Asda High Strength Effervescent Vitamin C & Zinc Tablets as a great budget alternative and well worth a try. Four stars out of five from me; it's not a multivitamin and it won't work miracles, and I wish there were a months supply in each tube or they were sold as double tubes but I will still keep on using them. Sainsbury's Defend Vitamin C Effervescent
by azana I've been suffering from what the GP I saw diagnosed as viral tonsillitis, being a viral rather than bacterial condition, apart from rest and pain killers, the only other suggested aid is vitamin C so, on medical advice I have been taking these daily effervescent tablets which contain zinc as well and which are currently a reasonable ... £1.60. Both zinc and vitamin C should help the immune system. There are twenty tablets in the pack, which has a reassuring security seal; Sainsbury's have changed the packaging somewhat so rather than a rather prominent "defend" there is now a discrete "immune" on the pack. as the tablets provide 1000mg of vitamin C (1250 % of RDA) and 15 mg of Zinc (150% of RDA), I am not sure that I would take them on a daily basis, were I eating my normal healthyish diet, however as I am currently only able to swallow liquids, for the last few days these have been a good way of making sure I am giving my immune system a little extra help. The tablets, which are flat and a browny orange colour, dissolve easily and quite quickly in a glass of water. They are, somewhat predictable orange in flavour with a bit of a sweetener after taste, which isn't that pleasant. There is, apart from sweetener rather a long list of ingredients, as you might expect, the main one being citric acid, I am not really sure why there are colours added to this, once dissolved it is a rather dark orange. For my use it dissolves fully, which means I can drink it slowly, and making it a better option for me than conventional tablets. These tablets along with the other things I was told to do, do seem to be aiding my recovery, but obviously they are not a miracle cure. They come in an airtight container, with, in my case a long expiry date, 2015; so they don't have to be used all at once. I would recommend these tablets as a way of getting extra vitamin C for a short time if you have the need, as with all vitamins I expect eating healthily is a better way to get your intake, but if that is not possible these are a useful supplement, but not one that I personally would take as prevention for colds and the like. For my use I have found these good, so I would recommend them but, as with all supplements and treatments always suggest you talk to a medical professional and investigate the side effects of taking a huge percentage of your RDA long term. To sum up, these are, in my experience, just as good as more expensive branded items, and a helpful supplement. Link: please see link for NHS advice on vitamin C, they suggest not exceeding 1000mg http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/vitamins-minerals/Pages/Vitamin-C.aspx Read the complete review |
