Just recently myself and my husband have been feeling under the weather almost constantly - recovering from one cold only to pick up another. It seems to be the time of year for it, but, in an effort to perk us up a bit, we decided to supplement our diet with vitamins. We do try to eat a fairly healthy, balance diet but we figured a helping hand wouldn't hurt.
We only really chose Asda vitamins as we happened to be shopping in there at the time that we made this decision. We just chose multivitamins but they are also available with additional iron. We purchased a jar of 250 tablets for £3.50. They are also available on a 3 for £10 offer.
The jar is made of a white plastic with purple labelling and a purple plastic lid. The lid screws off but is child proof so has to be pressed down when unscrewing - it is still fairly easy to open and not stiff like some child proof lids can be. The bottle has a foil seal that needs to be broken through to access the tablets. The tablets are circular disc shaped and quite small in size. They are a deep red in colour. On opening the bottle, you can smell the vitamins - a distinct scent that I would describe as neither pleasant or unpleasant.
The tablets are easy to take and you take one a day, with a meal. I simply swallow with a mouthful of water. They are small enough to swallow very easily and do not lodge in your throat uncomfortably. A jar of these lasts a long time so it is great value for money in this respect.
As for whether these work, as with all such supplements, it is hard to give a definitive answer. We both felt that these supplemented our diet well and they definitely gave us the reassurance that we were getting all of the vitamins that we needed. We did feel significantly better in ourselves too but this could, of course, be coincidence. However, we are still taking these and intend to in the future too so we must have some confidence that these are making a difference for the better.
