Bassetts On The Go Vitamins
Advantages: Easy to carry around, flavoursome, like little pastille sweets but full of goodness!
Disadvantages: Not sure conclusively if they have had an effect......
I have a confession to make! Even though I am a Chef, I do NOT eat properly. I do not get my five-a-day (am lucky if I get my one-a-day!), and am severly lacking in the amount of essential vitamins and minerals that I should be taking as part of my daily diet. As a result, whenever there is a case of the sniffles, a cold or any other kind of airborne virus floating about I tend to be susceptile to coming down with something.
In the past, I have occasionally taken the odd vitamin supplement such as vitamin C tablets but they often come in big, chunky containers and can be a bit of pain to lug around and so I always end up leaving them at home and forgetting to take them! Then I take two tablets the next day to make up for the day I have missed and well...it all gets a bit silly after a while!
Now though, Bassetts have released these On-The-Go Vitamins that come in a small package that fits in any pocket much easier than those other big, chunky containers you can buy. The vitamins themself look like sweets or some kind of pastille and actually taste quite nice as well! The Immune variety, for example, tastes of Raspberry and Pomegranate and helps boost your immune system whilst the Maintain variety tastes of mango and supposedly boosts mental maintennance whilst the Vitality variety is simply flavoured with citrus and allegedly helps boost your energy and vitality levels as the name would suggest.
At around £2 something for 15 pastilles, these don't work out too bad value and the fact that they are in a handy-to-carry container and are designed especially for people like me who don't have time to stop, only works in their favour. I am certainly more inclined to carry them around and take them though how long that will last is anyones guess! I prefer the Immune ones because it is my Immune system that needs a good, hard kick up the a*** and because I like the flavour but it is good that Bassetts offer you a choice of supplement for which area of expertise you want them to build on!
Do they work? I'm not sure, is the honest answer! Since taking these, Ihave felt a bit more healthier and felt like I had a bit more zing but whether this is just a placebo effect or not is difficult to pin down! Certainly I have had less colds and sinus irritatins this year so far so there is obviously something going on in my body chemistry and, apart from the exercise I have started to take in the form of running, this is the only other aspect of my lifestyle I have changed!
Are these manufacturered by the same Bassetts who make Liquorice Allsorts? I'm still not sure but one thng I do know is that I think they are on to a winner with this product!
Summary: A great way to get some of the important vitamins you need in your daily diet!
