“ Brand: Boots / Type: Cod Liver Oil 340mg Capsules / Dosage Form: Oil „
I've been suffering with a painful knee joint for a while now, clicking at every slight movement, which for someone of my age is very concerning. I consulted my doctor about this however he couldn't see anything to worry about just a dodgy joint, this wasn't enough to ease my concern so I decided to seek some online advice. Most of the tips given for healthy joints were to consume a good amount of cod liver oil, as I'm not a fan of most fish this seemed to make sense and I hoped that with some supplements my knee may improve.
I found a pack of 30 capsules in boots for a mere £1.49, I was really impressed with the price as each little tub would last you roughly a month, not harming my pocket at all. I chose the boots product over other well known brands such as seven seas purely because of the affordable price (seven seas works out to be roughly £3.30 per 30 capsules).
If you aren't very confident when swallowing tablets then I wouldn't recommend these supplements, each capsule is a lot larger than your average paracetamol making them a little uncomfortable to swallow. However despite the size I don't have any real problems taking them, but I do know some people who would struggle.
The affects of these supplements aren't very significant at all, I took the whole pack of with probably unrealistic expectations for the clicking, stiffness and pain to completely clear up, however the capsules only relieved the stiffness still leaving me with worrying clicking and discomfort.
I think that this product definitely improves the health of your joints, maybe just not to the extent that I personally would like. This product is ideal if you just want a little boost, it's not the best if you have more than average stiffness and pain in your joints. I probably won't be buying these again as I continue my search for a more powerful replacement.
WHAT ARE THEY?
Capsules containing 340mg of cod liver oil. They are flavourless and colourless.
I think the capsules feel a bit sticky but they are easy to swallow with water, I could not take one without a drink because they are quite big. I usually use cod liver oil capsules from Holland & Barratt and those ones are a lot easier to swallow. I have used the full bottle of 30 capsules and none of them have split or ever made me be able to taste the cod liver oil when I take them.
WHY DO I TAKE THEM?
My husband has been taking daily cod liver oil since he was a baby to try to prevent himself being afflicted by the arthritis that targets males in his family. I have started taking it as well because it is said to help the joints and I stand a lot in my professional life so my joints ache sometimes. I do not know if taking them make any difference but I feel better myself if I am taking them regular.
WHAT I THINK
I think 340mg is the correct amount of cod liver oil for me because I do not have a condition that requires it. My husband takes a larger dose on the advice of his doctor.
I cannot taste anything when I take a capsule but sometimes they repeat on me about an hour after I have taken it and then it feels like my breath smells oily. They feel big to swallow and I can feel the capsule in my throat, I do not like that and think they should be less round for comfort.
I cannot remember how much these cost but they were a lot cheaper than the ones I buy from Holland & Barrett, I did not buy them to save money but because I could not find a branch of Holland & Barrett when I run out of capsules on holiday. I will not buy them again because I do not like how they feel when I take them even though I am sure they work the same as more expensive brands.
3 Dooyoo Stars.
I am not really someone who is big on taking vitamins and that kind of thing but I have always suffered from dry skin and the rest of my family have always recommended taking cod liver oil. It wasn't until recently when my doctor told me that taking it would probably help my skin from being less dry and make me look a lot healthier as it is providing the skin with more oils and just helping my general well being. This is when I decided to go into Boots and go for the 300mg ones as I didn't want to take too high a dose.
The packaging that these come in is nothing exciting but is noticeable on the shelf. They come in a small cylinder shaped jar with a turquoise green lid and the same coloured writing. On the jar they state the number of capsules inside which is 30 capsules and 340mg in measurement and they have the boots logo. They also have some directions of use on the side but are in a very compact child proof lid so that it is very securely fastened.
The capsules are not suitable for children under 12 years old, and are not to be taken exceeding the stated dose. Also, if pregnant it is best to ask your doctor first before taking these. Do not use these if the seal is broken and always store in a cool, dry place away from children.
When it comes to taking these capsules, they are very easy to take. They are small ovals and are a golden kind of yellow colour just like oil they have a transparent look to them. It is just a case of taking one capsule a day and swallowing it with a liquid; I always usually take them with water. These are Cod Liver Oil Capsules with Vitamin A & D food supplement, so they basically just fill in what you may be missing out on in your diet.
I have been taking these for a good few months now but with things like this it is hard to really comment on results. I feel healthy but that could be to do with anything really, I do feel my skin seems to be in a lot better condition and looks a lot healthier, I also feel a lot better in myself but again I cannot guarantee that these are anything to do with it.
I think the main reason for taking these is to feel better about myself and feel like I am taking all the necessary vitamins I need for a good balance. I think these are good to start taking at any age but would recommend more so from about 18 onwards as too early is unnecessary really. I started only recently and know lots of people who use these just as part of their daily routine to ensure they are getting all of their necessary vitamins.
You can buy Cod Liver Oil capsules in most places but Boots have a great 3 for 2 offer on all vitamins which is a good offer. They sell these on their own for 99p which is for 30 capsules which is obviously going to last you 1 month. However, you can buy a bigger sized jar of these if you need to but the 99p one if good value for money and easy to carry about if you need to.
