I was on Ritalin as a kid, but then I studied nutrition at Becker College and took myself off the Ritalin. I know better now. So many people go on medication for ADHD before they even try nutritional therapy. Before using synthetic drugs, why not try optimizing my diet for brain health? So that's what I did.
I have been getting omega-3 fatty acids from nuts and fish, get antioxidants from dark coloured veggies (i.e. spinach, kale, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, beets, onion), and get plenty of lean protein. Use an all-natural supplement like BrainEffect (review the vitamins, minerals, plant extract, etc. and compare products) or whatever blend is designed by your herbalist or nutritionist. I can't believe so many people resort to Ritalin before they even try simple nutritional therapy. The trick is that you have to be self-aware enough to notice the great mental clarity and energy you get when you feed the brain exactly what it needs.
I was on ginkgo and ginseng for a while, but now I use this supplement that has something like 15 ingredients all blended together. I'm sure other supplements have similar blends, but I wanted to say BrainEffect is a safe bet.
