I'm so pleased that DooYoo has added this product to the site as I cannot praise it highly enough. It has so many uses and yet many people are not aware of them. I wonder if this is partly due to what I have read about the drug companies not wanting us to know about it because it's often more effective than their own products. Companies producing colloidal silver were also not allowed to make claims on the labels about its uses, and indeed, there is a disclaimer on this bottle stating that "This product is not intended to prevent, treat, cure, mitigate or diagnose any disease".

- Uses -
Colloidal silver can be used against infection in many different ways. It can be applied to external wounds to keep them clean and encourage healing. It can also be used orally, (either by spraying it into the mouth/throat or by swallowing it), intranasally, into the ears, and pretty much anywhere else you can think of! As this product is natural, there is no recommended "safe maximum dose", but it does not seem to cause any side effects at all, making it suitable for children, the elderly and infirm, and animals. Other uses include burns, cuts, athlete's foot, rashes, cold sores, yeast infections, and food poisoning (it has been proven to kill six types of bacteria that commonly cause food poisoning). There are also reports of it killing MRSA and other pathogens.

By far the best result I have had from using this product was with my dogs. The vet had concluded that they had some sort of bacterial infection, suspected of being campylobacter. Since they had both had this before, I knew what to expect and dreaded the vomiting, diarrhoea, dehydration, lethargy, loss of appetite and general illness. I had previously had to sleep downstairs in the living room with them so they could go out to the garden every few minutes. One of them did not leave her bed all day and had to be given fluids to replace her electrolytes. Unfortunately, it took two complete courses of antibiotics to shift this horrid bacteria.

This time round, whilst waiting for the dogs to provide lab samples, I was thinking how I really didn't want to give them antibiotics (for the same reasons I don't like to take them myself: side effects, destroying the body's intestinal flora, etc.) so I went to my local health store in search of a better solution. Having used this product before for less serious issues, when it was suggested to me for campylobacter, I was happy to try it. The dogs were not eating at this point and both had a tremor in their hind quarters. Again, one did not want to go outside.

One of the great things about colloidal silver is that it has no smell, no taste, and is in no way unpleasant. (It does not sting if you apply it topically, either.) This made it relatively easy to give it to the dogs. One allowed me to spray it down her throat and the other had it added to some water to drink. Within two days, they were both looking much brighter and I called the vet and asked him to cancel the lab test he had arranged. The dogs then began eating again and I was able to spray the silver onto their food.

This particular brand of colloidal silver is, I believe, the strongest available, and, whereas you would need twenty-five sprays of some brands, it is only necessary to use six sprays a day. I kept the dogs on it for two weeks after they showed signs of improvement and they made a rapid and full recovery - without the need for antibiotics or other chemicals.

- The Cost -
Colloidal silver can seem a little expensive, but when you consider the range of uses it has, and potentially not having to buy other products, such as cold sore ointments for instance, or even prescription medications, that may be used for a short time and then thrown away, it seems to pay for itself. This particular brand costs around £19.95 for 100ml. There are, of course, other brands that are cheaper, and which, in my opinion, are perfectly good for general topical use, and you can buy a miniature spray bottle for under £4. However, in the case of a persistent infection, I would always go for the stronger stuff. The ridiculously long-named Good Health Naturally Nutrition silver is 50ppm (fifty parts per million). A small particle size also makes it easier for the silver particles to enter the body's cells and do their job.

There aren't really any downsides to this product as far as I can see, although it is worth mentioning that it has been said that long-term use at a high dose MAY reduce the body's intestinal flora. Considering the average quantity being consumed and the duration of use in most cases, I really can't see this being a problem, and even regular refined white sugar can have this effect and "feed" the bad bacteria in the gut. In any case, if you were in any doubt, you could always take a probiotic supplement in conjunction with the silver if you were taking it for any length of time. The other thing that has been reported with prolonged use of silver preparations is argyria: "a condition in which silver salts deposit in the skin, eyes, and internal organs, and the skin turns ashen-gray". However, since it is unlikely that you would want to take this product all the time, it seems that this is not much of a risk. You wouldn't, after all, want to have a large amount of anything every day forever.

Another fantastic property of colloidal silver is that bacteria does not become resistant to it as it can with some antibiotics, so it will always be effective. I should also say that this product has a long shelf life and, while it is light-sensitive, it usually comes in a dark blue bottle to protect it, so it requires no refrigeration or special storage.
