I would describe my diet with the same phrase as I used to get on my school reports - could do better!! Although my diet is ok, I know I don't eat as much healthy foods as I should due to a lack of willpower and therefore, I know my body is missing out on key nutrients.

As with most women, I like to make an effort, but sometimes my hair, skin and nails can look quite dull and lifeless and I do put a certain amount of this down to the missing nutrients in my diet, so on the recommendation of a friend, I thought I would give Holland & Barratts Hair, Skin and Nails capsules a go.

I thought these would be a good idea as with them being from Holland and Barratt, I trusted what they were as they are a leading brand in the health market and I felt that not only would they boost my intake of key vitamins and minerals that I am missing from my diet, that I would have glowing skin, glossy hair and strong healthy looking nails too.

I didn't expect these to be cheap due to the brand name, but I was shocked when I did find the price out. A pot of 60 capsules costs £9.99, which is pretty expensive for a vitamin product such as this. However, Holland & Barratt tend to have a lot of offers on their products and I got 2 packs for £10.00 which made the cost more justifiable.

The idea is that you take 3 of these a day, preferably with a meal. Obviously with a product like this, you are not going to see overnight results and so patience and perseverance is the key, but I have to admit I got a little disheartened when after a few days, I didn't notice any change in the way I looked or felt.

After a couple of weeks or so though, I started to see some results. I wouldn't say these did much to my hair or nails, but my skin looked and felt much better. The dullness was replaced with a nice brightness and although I wouldn't go as far as saying my skin was 'glowing', there was a definite difference in the look of my skin which has continued.

These are very similar to a standard multi-vitamin tablet. They do contain iron so won't suit everybody but they have worked pretty well for me. After continued use, I have started to notice that my normally rather brittle nails are starting to become a little firmer too, though I am at present trying a New Year healthier regime in general which I believe has probably also contributed towards this sudden change in appearance of my nails. Again though, these don't seem to have changed the appearance of my hair at all.

I quite susceptible to colds and coughs, especially during the winter time and at present (touch wood), I haven't had even a sign of a sniffle so I believe these capsules are contributing towards a healthier me in general and not just the appearance of my skin, hair and nails.

Obviously with any product such as this, there are the usual warnings to consider which can be found on the side of the bottle but provided you only use the suggested amount per day then you can't really go wrong with these.

My only gripe with these is that if you aren't a fan of taking general tablets, then you may struggle with these as they are huge! They are in capsule form, rather than round tablet form which does help and they have quite a smooth coating to enable to them to slip down the throat easily but they are really big and I struggle to swallow mine at the first attempt. They go down eventually but it isn't easy!

Overall, these are a decent food supplement that alongside a good diet can really help you look and feel good. I do believe they have made a difference, though not a huge one and I will continue to use them whilst trying to improve my diet so that I look good and feel healthy on a continuing basis. Although expensive I have been quite impressed with these so therefore they come with a recommendation from me.
