MyProtein Impact Whey Protein
Advantages: Excellent Taste, Great Quality
This is one of the products that I honestly can't do without in my life and in particular I am very loyal to the Myprotein brand. They have been around for many years, and as well as using them regular to buy my Whey Protein, I also use them religiously to buy instant oats and accessories like a blender bottle, which is a product I recently reviewed.
Whey Protein is a protein that comes from Whey, as you probably can tell from its name. It is a by product of Cheese, so naturally contains lactose. Protein is essential to all people, and there is generally some protein in all food. The purpose of this Impact Whey Protein however is to have it in the form of a drink that you can take easily and get it quickly into your system. Protein is essential for bodybuilders as it helps repair the tissue that gets broken down when doing weights. Can you imagine, having to have a heavy protein meal after a workout, it just isn't feasible. In drink form it means life is a lot easier, and as well as Whey Protein, there are other options like Soy Protein and Egg Protein amongst others. It really depends on your preference, however Whey Protein is known for being the most effective.
I find the My Protein brand of Whey, to be of a higher quality than others I have tried. It is hard to explain exactly as I am not exactly a scientist who can analyse each grain, but this is an opinion that I share amongst many others users of this product. However looking at the figures you get 82% protein content per serving which is very high. Also it has the highest biological value of any protein according to the website which must be a good thing right.
This comes in many different flavours, and each flavour has a different pricing, and each size for each flavour also provides a different pricing, which makes it very tricky to give exact figures, however I will try and be as accurate as possible. The unflavoured 1kg costs £12.99, 2.5kg is £25.99 and the 5kg is £39.99. In comparison the flavoured versions have a 1kg cost of £14.79, 2.5kg is £29.49 and finally the 5kg is £53.49. So you can see it does cost quite a bit extra for the flavoured versions.
In terms of flavours there is probably the widest choice out of any protein product from any brand and it is a list to be proud of. It is too long to list, but the flavours range from Vanilla to Chocolate to Banoffee to Latte amongst many others. I have tried the Chocolate Smooth flavour and the Mocha flavour, and have to say they are both excellent. The only other brand that can come close to it in terms of taste is Optimum Nutrition.
The mixability here is really good. I always bang on about needing a great shaker bottle so that grains are not left, and that it is pure liquid. However with MyProtein the product mixes very well that a plastic grid will do the job here and you don't need the blender ball. I have to go back to the Optimum Nutrition brand and say that their mixability definetily comes up trumps, and you don't even need any sort of blender. Just shake with water or milk and job done.
How to take?
The way to take this is to add 25grams to a bottle, and mix it with a 150ml to 250ml of water or milk. It can be hard to measure 25grams, which is why you can buy a 25gram scoop of the MyProtein website. It would have been awesome if it came with the scoop, but I won't downgrade it for not including one, but most other brands do include the scoop so it would have been a nice touch. However once you buy the scoop, you can use it unlimited times.
When to take?
I recommend that you take this straight after a workout, and within twenty minutes of completing your workout. Also if you are looking to bulk and increase your protein intake, then it is wise to take this before your workout and maybe at another point during the day. Bare in mind this does contain Lactose, so if you are Lactose Intolerant, then I would stay far away, unless you want to be uncomfortable after taking this product, I don't think I need to go into any more information as to the side effects here. However if you are lactose intolerant then look at the Whey Protein Isolate version, which I will hopefully review at a later date.
Final point I have to mention is the excellent delivery times, and this doesn't just apply to this product but all the products from this brand. Delivery is free over £60 at the moment which shouldn't be too hard to reach if you buy a couple of products. One time I ordered this Thursday night and received it Friday morning. That is how fast the delivery can be, and on average you receive your product within two days, which is commendable in itself.
I think this is a product of the highest quality, and really have no complaints. MyProtein are doing a great job here, and there prices are one of the best around. As long as they keep producing their protein of this grade of quality, and don't start increasing their prices, then I will be a customer for a long time yet. I have recommended a lot of others to this product, and will continue to do so. If anyone has any questions please feel free to message me.
Summary: I am a loyal customer, and recommend you check them out
