Advantages: Can help sustain your energy levels during times of stress/exhaustion

Disadvantages: quite costly; takes a while till you feel the benefits.

Following a bout of pneumonia I was recently left feeling tired all the time and very lack lustre and exhausted and whilst picking up a prescription in my local chemist I spotted an advert for Pharmaton (Vitality) Capsules which are recommended specifically for these sorts of symptoms and asked my pharmacist about them.

These are basically a multivitamin and mineral supplement (which can help resolve an in-balance in your day to day diet if there is one) whilst also trying to solve the additional problem of a complete lack of energy with the added ingredient, namely Ginseng G115. The label on the bottle states: Pharmaton Vitality Capsules are the relief of short periods of daily fatigue associated with a busy, hectic lifestyle. Symptoms of daily fatigue include temporary periods of exhaustion (for example caused by stress), tiredness and a feeling of weakness or lack of vitality (loss of energy).'

These can be obtained in bottles containing from 30 up to 100 capsules and the daily dose is one to be taken with or after food for adults and the elderly. If you find you are feeling better after approximately 4 weeks, Pharmaton Vitality can be taken for a further 8 weeks but any time beyond 12 weeks it is advisable to consult with your doctor before continuing as this supplement is meant for short term use only.

The basic vitamins and minerals encompassed in this product are: A, D, E, C, B1, B2, B3, B6, Folic Acid, B12, B7, Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Zinc, Copper, Selenium and Lecithun. The capsules themselves are quite large and chocolate brown in colour but despite their size are easy to swallow with fluid.

My opinion:

I have been taking these capsules for 4 weeks now and I can truly say that I have felt quite a significant change in my symptoms. Yes I still feel tired from time to time but that overall feeling of inertia and complete lack of energy has left me, leaving me feeling much better mentally and physically, with a spring in my step. I would therefore recommend these for short term fatigue especially if linked to a recent bout of illness like mine. I do feel that it would have taken me much longer to recover without this additional supplement and although expensive I would use them again in time of need.

I purchased 100 capsules from my local chemist for £22.46 so this product is not cheap but for me they have been worth the price to feel better. Of course, it is necessary to remember to take the product each day and to give it a few weeks as it can take at least a couple of weeks before you really start to feel the benefit of them working.

Pharmaton also produce capsules that can be taken day in day out that also help to combat general fatigue. This Vitality variety as mentioned is more for short-term usage so care must be taken as to how long you remain on it - always speak to your doctor if you are unsure.

Thanks for reading. x
