When I was thinking of starting to conceive one of the many things that I used to worry about was the possibility of my unborn child having some birth defect. I knew that because of my age at the time (35) that I was more likely to have problems being an elderly pri-gravida don't you just love the terms they use than some body younger than me. I personally thought it was important for me to be in the best health physically prior to conceiving so that any risks to my self or my unborn child were reduced. So along side losing weight and reducing my alcohol intake I started taking Pregnacare tablets. What is it and why take ... Read the complete review

In an ideal world, all the vitamins and minerals we need would come from our diet. But these days many people don't get the nutrients they need from the food they eat. With hectic lifestyles convenience foods often take preference over fresh foods. Even with fresh fruit and veg the vitamin content is dependent on many things, with nutritional content decreasing with the age of the food, and cooking destroying essential nutrients. Now that I've reached over 12 weeks pregnant I have decided to change my vitamin intake. I had been previously taking folic acid which helps to protect against a number of congenital malformations including neural tube defects. According to my health professionals, as this stage of development has already taken place then there is no need to take folic acid solely but I still wanted to make sure I was getting all the vital supplements I needed. With this information in mind I set off to Boots to look for some vitamins. They have their own range of vitamins but the ones that really caught my eye were the Vitabiotics Pregnacare original vitamins. These seem to ... Read the complete review

Pregnacare Vitamins After I had got over the initial shock of finding myself pregnant after the very first time of trying (literally one encounter with my boyfriend after I had stopped the pill) I began to try and get all the right things that would aid my pregnancy and developing child inside me. My search of course started at the chemist where there is an array of pregnancy multi vitamins and mineral extracts to choose from. The thought of me not taking in enough of these from my food was a worry and the idea of taking a vitamin supplement seemed fantastic. The doctor recommends that you take Folic acid up to around the ... Read the complete review

Pregnacare is designed for woman planning to conceive and those who are pregnant or breast feeding. When you are pregnant or breast feeding your baby completely relies on the vitamins and minerals you take in daily - now how scary is that! I wouldn't say I was an unhealthy person, I rarely drink, I don't smoke but I do not eat much fruit and vegetables. I do try and eat them but am a fussy eater. Normally I take multi vitamins daily to ensure that I get the vitamins and minerals that I need. "Normal" multi vitamins are not suitable when pregnant though as they contain too much of some things, such as Vitamin A, and not enough of others, such as ... Read the complete review
