Advantages: They work well on my skin

Disadvantages: Nothing

It was about 7 years ago that I first started using Evening Primrose oil in the form of capsules in an attempt to try and clear up my Eczema. I had suffered with eczema quite badly for about 6 months, when a work colleague of mine suggested that I should give it a try, and as I was willing to try anything to get rid of the eczema I tried it the next day.

~~~ What is Evening Primrose Oil? ~~~
The Evening Primrose plant is the source for the oil. The plants are native to North America, and have pretty little yellow flowers on them. The oil which is derived from these plants contains a rich source of gamma-linoleic acid, which is better known as GLA. The human body makes its own GLA from essential fatty acids. Essential fatty acids have numerous functions in the body, such as toning blood vessels, balancing water levels, and improving the action of the digestive system, and brain functioning.
This makes evening Primrose Oil ideal for sufferers of eczema and psoriasis, as it helps to reduce the scaling and redness, and prevents itching and irritation, as well as encouraging the skin to heal.
~~~ Did it work for me? ~~~

This is very difficult for me to give a direct YES or No answer to, simply because I was trying numerous other creams and ointments at the same time, and also moved to new house, as well as started a new job which all coincided with my eczema starting to clear up rapidly before disappearing completely.
As I mentioned above I did suffer with it really badly, and it gradually took over my whole body, and I was often woken in the night by my wife to let me know that I was scratching uncontrollably at it, and almost every morning my sheets were covered in blood stains from my scratching and itching. I started to feel like I would never get rid of it, and I hated socialising with friends and family as I was so embarrassed at the state of my skin.

I took Evening Primrose Oil in the form of the capsules. I took 1 X 1000mg capsule a day, and within 3-4 weeks, my skin was back to normal, and if anything it was better than it had ever been. Once my supply of capsules ran out, I never bothered to replace it, because as far as I was concerned that was the end of the eczema.

Several times since my original bout of eczema cleared it, it has returned, most recently this winter, and so I went out to purchase some more capsules from my local Sainsbury's store. Sainsbury's sell the capsules in a variety of different pack sizes from 30 capsules up to 90 capsules, with the 90 capsule packs working out better value. I paid £2:89 for a pack of 90, but they work out even better value if you buy 3 packs, with the current offer of buy 3 pay for 2, which is ideal if you want a big stock of these in. On top of this of course there are the Nectar points to collect too. Sainsbury's also offer the option of 500mg or 1000mg capsules, so I opted for the 500mg capsules, as I believed my skin was not as bad as it had been in previous years. These capsules also contain a source of Vitamin E, and a 500mg capsule actually contains 83% of the recommended daily amount of Vitamin E which is an added bonus.

They come in a white plastic pot which has a push and twist safety cap at the top of it. A bright yellow label wraps around the centre of the bottle which displays the number of capsules contained within the pot and the strength of the capsule.
To the rear of the label there is a little list of ingredients, along with the usual safety warning and storage advice (see below). So far these capsules from Sainsbury's already seem to be having an effect, and my skin is beginning to heal and become more radiant.
