Advantages: Cheap and contain lots of vitamins and minerals
Although taking an iron tablet everyday is a necessity for me due to my anemia, I also take several other supplements including the multivitamin tablets from Tesco, mainly because I'm a bit of a health freak!
I take one of these a day along with my other supplements and I have mine after my breakfast as it's advised that the tablets should not be taken on an empty stomach. Each tablet contains twelve essential vitamins and minerals which according to Tesco are for 'optimum health.' The ingredients includes vitamins A, C, D, E, B1, B2, B6 and B12. The tablets also contain folic acid, niacin and pantothenic acid.
These are only available from Tesco and they can be purchased in two different sized tubs - the smaller tub contains sixty tablets while the large tub contains 240 tablets. I have had the large tub for the past couple of months now and there's still loads left, so they're great value. The large tub currently retails at £3.42, equating to just over one pence per tablet.
I'm pretty certain that they were a little cheaper when I got mine, but they're still much cheaper than the holland and barrett version and at a little over one pence a tablet they won't break the bank! Tesco also have a long term 3 for 2 offer on their range of supplements, making them even batter value. The tablets come in a medium sized tub which has got a white and blue colour scheme. Although the tub contains a lot of tablets it's not too bulky and doesn't take up much room in my cupboard.
All of the information needed is written on the tub including the brand & product name, ingredients, safety advice and so on. Opening the tub is easy enough - twist & pull. It is not a child proof lid, however I do think that a small child would struggle to open it. Either way, the tub should be kept out of reach from children and they are not suitable for anyone under the age of twelve.
The tablets themselves are much smaller than I was expecting and very easy to swallow. They're a beige/pale yellow kind of colour and are completely odourless, which is always an advantage in my opinion. They have a chalky feel to them but they're smooth if that makes sense and as they're so small I am easily able to swallow one, as long as I have some water. I've never had any problems swallowing these and the small size is defnitely an advantage!
As for the results, I can't say that I have noticed a drastic change in my health or anything. I've been taking them for around two months now and was hoping that they would boost my energy levels a little, but to be honest I don't think that these alone have made a massive difference. I had also hoped that they'd possibly help clear up the stubborn bits of eczema on my ankles due to the vitamin E which is supposed to be amazing for skin healing. While I have seen a small improvement, I doubt that it is purely the tablets as I have been using various lotions and potions on my skin.
Although I have not noticed a massive difference in my health/the way that I feel on a daily basis since taking these, I do think that they help contribute a little to my overall health, and I haven't felt coldy or ill for quite a while, but as I said I do take other supplements and I have a healthy diet. I will definitely continue taking them to ensure that I am getting enough vitamins and minerals - for just over 1p a day it'd be silly not to. I do have a very healthy diet but I feel like these give my body a boost in vitamins etc which makes me feel a little healthier which I guess is kind of a placebo. I also like that they're suitable for Vegans - there's no nasty ingredients in them and they're also wheat and gluten free.
Overall, recommended - a quick, cheap & easy way to get enough vitamins and minerals.
