Advantages: Cheap easy to operate and install good quality audio
Disadvantages: Not very long cable can cause a problem being tied to your desktop
The BT Agile is a great VOIP Skype phone.
I had the chance to use this device we were testing lots of different VOIP telephone systems for work. This phone is the most basic of the range tested and its functions are quite limited. The handset looks fun to use and has been designed well placed against your ear it feels comfortable and a natural position. The colour of the phone is eye catching and the buttons easy to press and read if you have site issues.
The phone is made of hard plastic which would take some abuse before breaking as I dropped on a number of times and it still functioned. The phone is called a plug and play device which means you don't need any software installed on the computer to make it work the computer recognises the device and installs its own drivers without any invention from the customer. After installing the device I made our first test call using Microsoft communicator which is a bit like Skype.
The call quality was surprisingly good for such a cheap phone and we could hear the other person very well.
The phone attaches into the USB socket on your computer which could cause an issue if your base unit is on the floor as the cable isn't very long. Its also not possible to purchase an extension. In conclusion this phone is a budget VOIP phone that is great for home use but probably wouldn't stand up to the abuse given to it in an office environment the phone is well designed but is very limited in functions. I would recommend this phone to anyone who needs a new VOIP phone for Skype or similar service that is cheap and reliable
Summary: We tested this phone for work and concluded that it worked well for home use not business
