More complicated than it looks (Cisco IP Phone 7911G)

Advantages: Big display with lots of information

Disadvantages: Not user friendly or intuitive

We moved offices at work and were given these phones to replace our old handsets. I have no idea about SKYPE or any business decision behind them so can only review from a user's persepctive.

This is a big handset with quite a few buttons and a big display. It tells you your name, extension and the time and date on the display which is quite helpful and it also tells you who is calling (the number and name if it knows it) when the phone rings.

It looks like it should be simple to use, there are buttons just under the screen which correspond to actions displayed on the screen however nothing seems to work quite as it should. After a couple of months of reading manuals and using the phones we've just about worked out how to pick up a call on the same line that someone has answered but still can't work out how to transfer it to a different number.

I'm sure that after some time we'll get used to it and it will become second nature but I really think it should be more intuitive than it is and the instructions haven't come in helpful yet.

Summary: From a user point of view I don't like it
