As a busy working wife and mum of 1, I needed a new family size washing machine (which at 6kg capacity I personally feel this is) that was cheap and reliable as soon as possible when my previous one broke. As a family we chose to go to Very.co.uk as the price was extremely reasonable at £199.99 plus £5 for taking away our old machine ... they also offered a 10% discount on our first order, along with buy now pay in 9 months interest free credit so we only paid £173.00 but I have since seen some other good deals on the internet.
The washing machine it's self was easy to install and I did this myself following the instructions provided. As with most new washing machines these days it only needed to be connected to the cold water tap saving on gas bills and the drainage pipe just needed placing in the outlet I already have fitted.
The machine it's self offers a 16 wash cycles including a quick wash of 15 minutes, intensive, easy iron, jeans and wools and delicates along with normal cotton and synthetic cycles. With most of the main wash cycles there is the option to use up to 40% less water by choosing the Eco time cycle which also reduces the wash time, thus saving yourself electrical consumption.
On most cycles you are able to choose the temperature of the wash you require and we personally find a maximum of 30 degrees is sufficient for our washing needs but the washer does have a maximum temperature of 90 degrees and also offers the opportunity to select a more intensive wash and delayed wash with 3, 6, 9 and 12 hour delays.
As well as the standard washing features the machine offers numerous spin settings ranging from no spin to a maximum of 1000 spin cycle and an extra rinse cycle option.
To be able to use either the Eco cycle, extra rinse, intensive wash or delayed wash you select the appropriate button which will be highlighted with a small green light.
This machine also highlights how far along the wash is with lights down the right hand side which correspond to the relevant function which are shown as a symbols including wash, rinse, spin, drain, end and door unlocked and when the machine has finished and not been used it will switch it's self into standby mode to which all that needs to be pressed is the On/Off button next to the washer drawer.
I personally use washing liquid that goes within the machine but there is the option of using the drawer with a pre-wash, wash and fabric conditioner compartments, this also pulls out for easy cleaning in warm water.
For anyone who is interested in the energy ratings they are A rated wash and C rated spin and the spin rating is the only downfall i can find with it as it is still a relatively quite spin as long as the feet are adjusted properly on the bottom of the machine making it full flat. The Indesit Washing Machine
We have been using the Indesit Washing Machine (model number IWDE126) for almost a year now! The previous washing machine we had was also an Indesit but it was a previous model from 2005 and this had turned faulty. We called the engineer on the cover plan agreement and he confirmed that the previous model ... was unrepairable. The Indesit model number IWDE126 was the replacement recommended by the engineer. We had to pay £343 for the replacement washing machine from Dixons. We did not however purchase the "Whatever happens support agreement" again for £159 because we had a bad experience the first time round that we purchased it, in a sense that parts have to paid for and that we didn't get a free replacement of the faulty machine. However, we were happy with the Indesit brand and decided that the next purchase will also be the same brand and hence we brought the Indesit Washing Machine with a built in washer and dryer (model number IWDE126).
How to use the Indesit Washing Machine?
All the operating buttons of the washing machine are on the top front side of the washing machine. To switch on the machine, there is one main power button (This button is bigger than the others). Then there is another power buttons which can be used to switch modes and functions. There are three circle shaped turn diallers on the top front panel of the washing machine. One is for drying time, one is for temperature and one is for the type setting. There are thirteen settings on the washing machine. These are written stylishly by the manufacturer on the front of the washing machine for guidance. I find this really useful as well when deciding which mode to use. The user manual is very easy to follow and giving it a quick read will enable you to understand how to operate the washing machine in greater detail.
These are the available settings on the washing machine:
1. White Pre-wash 90°
2. White Cotton 90° ( I use this option to wash my dad's white uniform shirts. This shirts have come out exceptionally clean and the white colour has been maintained).
3. Colour Cotton 90° (I use this option to wash my husband's and brother colourful clothes! The clothes have come out very clean and the colour has not smudged!) .
4. Easy Care 50°
5. Wool 40° (My wooly jumpers have not turned baubly due to this excellent function for wool items!)
6. Silk/Curtains 30° Shoes (I prefer to hand wash the think curtains! I have washed my net curtains using this function and it has come out brilliantly clean).
7. Drying Cottons
8. Drying Delicates
9. Flash Clean
10. Flash Nylon
11. Daily (This is the setting I use most often to wash my work clothes).
12. Special Shoes (I've not tried this one either to be honest, as I didn't want to test any of my good shoes!)
13. Special Sport (I've not tried this option).
I most often tend to use the setting number 11 (Daily), with drying time at twenty minutes and set the temperature to about thirty degrees. After this I press the secondary power button which activates the washing machine to start washing! If the weather is good I try to use the dryer so that I can make sure the electricity bill is not too high! The dryer is very good function, but I don't like to use it for more than thirty minutes to dry the clothes as the creases become to difficult to iron out.
The outer panel of the washing machine is very easy to clean with a damp cloth. I often clean the internal tyre near the door with a damp cloth as well as sometimes dirt and from fibres from previously washed clothes tends to gather there.
The door of the machine has been quite safe as it can't close from the inside. I was worried when purchasing the washing machine as I did not want it to be dangerous for my two year old daughter and this machine seems very safe. However, I still don't like to let my daughter go near the machine at all for safety reasons.
Conclusion
I would definitely recommend that you but the Indesit Washing Machine (model number IWDE126) as it is a great built in washer and dryer and the Indesit brand is very reliable and it is a professional washing machine! The Indesit Washing Machine has been very easy to use. It doesn't make too much noise either.
I hope you enjoyed reading my review. I will also be posting this review on other websites such as Ciao under my same username Angela150. Read the complete review |

The flat that I moved in two months ago has this washing machine. We are four students, and after a year we still are unused to the 'wash your own stuff' lifestyle. Even more, my flatmates are all guys, so if they can use it, anyone can.
Machine is pretty big, but it's under all the counters so no one cares. Other than that, ... the display is detailed and really useful, it has 13 programmes and also temperature and drying settings. Another good thing is the Eco-Time function, which I use almost all the time since my clothes aren't soiled and don't need heavy washing. Since it was here when I came, I don't know anything about installing it.
Washing times vary between programmes, but I remember I've read the manual and some are even 4 hours, while the Express wash and dry is 30 minutes, ideal for maybe a few shirt you need next day, or I use it for kitchen tea towels, and bath carpets, so I can use them immediately after. I think you could even wash and dry a shirt you need for going out while you put makeup on/ take a shower.
There is one problem I've come across, but it might as well be my fault. I dried bedsheets with print on them and the print transferred. Ruined 3 sets of bedsheets. Read the complete review |
